Document A Deconstruction by Sean Mahan

June 8th, 2006 12:26 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Document A Deconstruction

I've been sick, and as sick men are prone to do, I made a hasty decision - to cut my hair. I'd gotten to the point where - in my opinion at least - this was no mere cut. This was a hair deconstruction. The hair I attempted to document the whole process with a video, but vastly underestimated how long it would take, so I only got the first few minutes worth before the camera ran out of memory (the clip is edited).

I ended up stopping in the middle, at which point I had reached the "fauxhawk"/New Wave stage, pictured below. I almost thought about considering whether or not to decide to weigh the merits of keeping it that way.

Also worth noting: I saved the hair (in an appropriately safe, industrial-looking meta cylinder), but am unsure of what to do with it; as long as I thought it was, it's still nowhere near long enough to donate. Maybe I'll use it to make my license more artistic...

Hair is something a ton of men take to heart.

How do you feel about the look now?

Dammit, I was going to document the cutting of my scraggly mop next weekend, for this very task.

Curse you SF0!

Work reaction has been positive, but it's hard to say what that means. I'm undecided, but not displeased. Cameron, particularly if you're cutting your hair soon as well, we should figure out something good to with the divots...

Well, since it's no longer task driven, as I've documeted a more gruesome deconstruction, I may let it grow more wild and unwieldy.
