These here compilations are comprised of several songs that became incredibly relevant to my life within the past year, or so. Some graced my awaiting eardrums at a particularly poignant moment. Others were written, performed, and recrorded by those who molded or muddled my mind, lifted my spirits, and led me to believe that life was perfect. Well, not perfect... but at least as good as this... which is close.
I am currently without a camera (and the internet, actually. Luckily, my neighbors have wireless.), thus I have no pictures to post, just yet. However, I would at least like to tell you about the most wonderful time I had completing this task. And so... After setting up two playlists worth of ear candy and burning them to CD's, Dan Miller, Laura Bu, Charles, and I set out for a picnic in the park. With a basket full of pb&j sammies, some guacamole chips, a length of yarn, and a pair of scissors, we felt very confident in our endeavors. A bubbling fountain and some other late night park-goers provided the soundtrack to our unconventional lunchmunchmunch. Once our bellies were full and our brains were weaving through dreams of the roads we would travel next summer, the four of us decided to take a little stroll through Wicker Park in search of a good tree. We found one outside of the Pontiac Cafe, right across from the el station. This would be the perfect place for someone to walk right into a mixed CD dangling from a low hanging branch. I tied the yarn around the amalgamated music with the aforementioned note taped to it (How convenient for compact discs to be fashioned in the shape of a doughnut!). Dan Miller tied the other end of the filament around the tree's limb, leaving just enough to have the scissors suspended there, as well. We frolicked away to the playground, our spirits lifted and our hopes high, to climb and swing and swim amongst our own thoughts about the consequences of sound traveling through ears en route to the brain.
After being bundled in blankets for a good six hours, awaking to the sound of Kristy snoring peacefully across the room, showering, breaking the fast, and packing a lunch, I set out for work this morning around seven:thirty. As I walked past Pontiac Cafe, I took note of the scissors tied to a nearby tree.
I hope someone is enjoying their commute much more now that they have some new music to listen to.

There is some very nice music on your list.
But, the vote's for the accompanying instruction sheet, and for tying it to a tree and adding a pair of scissors. Great way to distribute something.

I love the end line "Peanut Butter & Smiles," I have been know to utter the phrase "Hugs & Muffins" on many an occasion.

What a great story - I found it strangely uplifting. I want to listen to all those songs now.
I liked the Yoko-style instructions too.
Vote!
Did you make a physical mix tape of these songs and place it somewhere for a stranger to find?
