Add a Useless Rope by Tirius Aerodominus, Professor Møbius, Fettucini McAlfredo

January 9th, 2011 12:40 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: I seldom find in my adventures that a rope has been positioned in a way which fascinates me without being helpful, such as perhaps turning a piece of public art and a tree into the supports for a giant spiderweb.

Install a useless rope or string.

USELESS ROPE!? Are you kidding? Do you know how much useless rope we've accrued at Adherents' HQ?! Every time the Meme repeats we get all this rope in anticipation, and only end up using half of it - then can't find it again when the next one comes around!

So, gathering all our useless rope (wire, cord, cable, ribbon, tape, etc.) we tossed it all in a bag with our trusty flashlight and camera, and set back out into the woods, seeking the perfect rope-hanging place we'd found on our expedition not long ago.

For almost three hours, Fettucini, Tirius and I went all spidery on that bunch of fallen branches, winding it about with whatever ropey substances we had on hand. Again, in a fashion of madness that only seems to come out amongst greenery, Fettucini ran to and fro across those dead, fallen branches, spinning our web of junk, while I took a perch and helped anchor along the bottom and Tirius remained warm on our behalves while taking pictures.

Our work is documented in the images below, and video will be posted later.

Who is in charge of checking the snare for giant bats?
I feel that could become important.

But if you caught a giant bat...then it would be a useful rope.

That depends upon how useful you think a giant bat is...
It could, of course, be very useful, I suppose.
