Start a Rivalry by Ty Ødin

INSTRUCTIONS: Compete arbitrarily towards the same objectives.

Pixie Dearest;

I am challenging you to an arbitrary duel for I technically challenged you, which means I'm the fleur of this task. My completion will get more points for I am willing to prove the fact that I am indeed more worthy of the following reasons.

A) Initiating the completion of the task. It also means that I'm Kindergarten first which means I'm inherently better (One of the many lessons I learned in enmity)

B) I am challenging you to an arbitrary duel for points by doing something living every awesome day (Note: this is a praxis which will be updated daily) I probably won't do a element everyday but "Task" will make some of my everyday life more awesome then I would otherwise be.

With most bitter enmity, it.
- Ty Odin

Pixie's Praxis.

Why am i doing this? An excuse to do! And it gives me awesome things for entirely arbitrary reasons. However, everyone is obligated to vote for me if whatever I do is awesome then whatever (more though if we both do awesome things, you should absolutely he can think up for both of us. Vote!)

First, I decided to prepare for this, like, 2 months ago by drinking rice wine vinegar. BAM!
main_sprintphotode2097245.jpg

Then, like any good gentleman, I decided I needed to be clean shaven. I've always wanted to shave with a knife, so I did. Macho Fuerte!

Your environment effects you. If your environment is one of clutter and mess you will inherit these attreibutes. In an effort to straighten my self out I cleaned my room, some thing which I never do. I know it may not seem awesome, but the monumental effort involved with finally throwing away all of the pointless sentimental BS that clutters my living space was truly a trial for me.

main_imag011798935.jpgmain_imag012398939.jpg

Additionally I cleaned out my boots and shoes in order to have a more organized and less dirty self.
main_imag012198937.jpg

While caught up in the momentum of getting rid of my useless trash I poured out my pain pills. For years I have had back problems and knee pains associated with my physical activities of choice (namely boxing and parkour) and it was far to easy to just ease the pain and continue with my self destructive manic pace. I need to learn to slow down and take better care of myself; not just my environment. If taking away this coping mechanism will force me to deal with the pain or slow my wild progress towards an early grave it is something I am willing to do.

I promise tomorrow will be far less wishy-washy and far more wildly awesome. It will wow you and all of your votes will be mine so as to further spite Pixie. Did I mention how nice you look tonight?

Everything is better with sharks. I teamed up with an Ex-Player, Desmond Shaols to cause some shark filled chaos. First, we made a shark 'fro pick,

main_imag011298941.jpg

then we replaced words with a shark

main_imag011598944.jpg

and for the grand finale we super-glued a shark to the inside of a restroom stall door.

Merry Sharkmas everyone!

Today I made boats in honor of this Praxis. It has always astounded me how similar it is to Lincoln's yet so different in the number of points it has received by way of votes. I did not make 1000 ships, just 10. Each one was a letter written out and then folded to 10 people I can not write a letter to (for various reasons). (Technically I made 11 boats, but one of the just said "Foxes RAWK". More on that in a moment.)

Today was an abysmal failure.

After a few personal setbacks on this unusually windy day I decided to clear my mind by making awesome kites. The trial run for this was going great, and my shopping bag proof-of-concept flew beautifully, turning in the wind on the end of a green ribbon. It was somewhere between taking a photo of my materials and finding a shirt that I no longer cared for that my camera decided to consume the remaining life of my batteries like a power-hungry demon.

I salvaged 3 AAA batteries from an old calculator and set out to try and get my mid sized kite, a grey T-shirt with a coat hanger for a frame, to fly. I was unsuccessful. Morbidly so. My kite got tangled in a puddle and, with the added weight of the water, even more determined not to fly.

For the full scale kite I used a floral sheet and the reliable green ribbon. I ran wildly cross the golf course holding a sheet behind me trying to achieve flight. I could almost hear the property values dropping.

Ultimately, the sheet achieved flight. It was roughly pulled from me and into the sky. As I fumbled for my camera the batteries died with one last erratic picture and the string broke, throwing my kite wildly off to the East. The sheet was recovered and the camera is now in time out for dying at the worst possible time.

Despite the lack of proof and the hardships associated with chasing down a sheet in a wind storm, for a moment I was returned to my youth and was in awe of a giant kite obscuring the treeline as it sailed away. It was, I assure you, awesome.

2/2/2011

Today was a dramatically humanitarian success.

I met up with a friend in a library holding art supplies and made book art with strangers. Check the pictures for the results!

2/3/2011

Today I discovered that my camera could not, would not take videos. I was already deployed in the field doing an awesome thing which some would argue requires video documentation: parkour. I flipped my camera to self timer and got stills of me moving across, up and over things.

Also, we mashed up a few card games.

Dear Pixie;

I humbly concede the first round of our rivalry to you. Keep your 8th splendorous fleur.
Please note I will not be so forgiving in the next round.

PSYCHE!

I took a vacation from the awesome and pulled off some mediocre, but I'm back on top now. My muse kicked me in the teeth for even thinking about conceding. It has been difficult staying motivated as life began to weigh me down, but I can't lose my drive.

During my computerless period I left awesome hidden messages, wrote a tabletop game, left cryptic messages in a dark forest and committed senseless destruction of something with no value. None of these things were particularly cool enough to give a detailed write up of, though. I cleaned my system of all the ennui and worry and began focusing on taking one step at a time.

My next step: Build a boat and get it to sail in one day.

2/9/2011

Ok so the boat's a no-go. Crazy cold-fronts brought the local temperature down to the 20's and it's raining. I will make and sail a boat in a day, but this is not the time for that.

Today I decided to expand my mind with three distinct exercises, two of which I have never done before but have heard of and one of which I practice regularly but am still horrible at.

1. Draw a Möbius strip

This turned out to be much harder than I thought. My first attempts were difficult because I could not hold a Möbius strip's shape in my mind.
main_imag026599330.jpg

I decided that making one would be acceptable as long as I did not use it a reference for my final drawing.
main_imag026699331.jpg

A Möbius strip is a shape that loops back on itself to allow travel on both sides without ever traveling over an edge. Accordingly, it looks weird. I could not shake the idea of a figure 8 with a twist, and so that's what I drew. If I had long enough paper I could model it, too.
main_imag026999333.jpg

2. Illustrate the 10 dimensions and imagine a hyper dimension stemming from the 3rd based on the ideas presented here.

I love quantum physics and the 10 dimensional view of the universe. The first part of this was a simple thing I have done before when illustrating the 10 dimensions to friends. A hyper dimension is an entirely different beast, though. Imagine a physical object that had length, width, depth, and another measurable, physical, geographic aspect to it. Lets call this fourth direction the object would expand into the hyper direction. One possible way to show this would be to draw a tesseract, a four dimensional (physically) equivalent to the three dimensional cube and the two dimensional square. essentially, it would look something like this.

8-cell99327.gif8-cell99327.gif
(Which, might I add, is trippy as HELL to watch while listening to some crazy dubstep.)

If you want to freak your self out just a little try drawing this. The end result is some how wrong and unsettling in all sorts of ways that I'm sure the picture cannot explain.
main_imag027499336.jpg

3. Develop one new mental association.

I like House.
I like apples.
What if House music sounded like apples taste?
I listened to this mix, ate an apple, drank apple juice, and reveled in the smell of apples. I closed my eyes and really tried to devote all of my thoughts to apples. It's hard to say if it worked, but if it did my life will be much more delicious.
main_imag027599337.jpg

2/10/2011

It's the final awesome thing. This is it. Time to pull out my boat.

The idea of the Boat came from imagining a way to blend the groups in a single task and given enough time would have been an epic completion of take to the water. In these circumstances I decided to call the gang and boat it up in a single day.

S.N.I.D.E.- We built a boat and sailed it in a pond that is enclosed on all sides in view of the golf course.
Chrononaut Exxon- Past, present, and future QHS seniors united from across the gulf of space and time, some leaving their college lives and some betraying their present-time families to collaborate on the Boat.
Bart PA- Well, Boats move. Transit accomplished.
EquivalenZ- We began this process with carefully metered, measured, and constructed plan.
Aesthematics- This Boat was beautiful. We even took time from our Boat building to name, paint, and give this Boat a flag. We also christened it in a beautiful spray of glass, ax and water.
Humanitarian crisis- Friends and foes united to build the Boat. Also, this is my biggest collaborative project in months.
Biome- Oh, did I mention? All recycled wood. Checkmate.

Raymond Tran, boat rider and god among men took copious amounts of pictures, and I have doubt merely uploading them all will be a herculean feat. The full boat story will be told in the photograph commentary.
