so this is a no-brainer, a certainty, just leave it at that.
from about age one (1) I was informed, as were all of us, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunties, grampas, etc., that our family had a well-defined and yet very distant connection to one james stewart. as in jimmy, as in, yes, that guy that you worried about when you watched the boring movie in civics class.
the facts are, as it stands, according to family oral history: that he's a 55th cousin to yrs truly.
but aren't we, like, all cousins, sooner or later? i'm no mathematician past algebra, but can we confirm this once and for all? aren't most of you closer to the man than i am, by blood?
i never really understood it, myself, but every christmas it was the same damn thing... when the yule log was on the one channel, and the other annual tradition was playing on the seecond, that is, before the epoch of comedy central....
there would always be a smile, recounting this hilarious hilarious moment... the time when gramma was in the hospital and her Singing Telegram appeared, sent by grampa. it turns out that the singers even rhymed the number 55, somehow, in the same stanza with the words Jimmy Stewart (!!) ... all as part of the telegram.
all that made her laugh more than anything. someone even wrote it down, the Singing Telegram, for our sake, for the grandchildren, and then embroidered it (quite skillfully i might add). i swear to you, cross my heart, everything, i think the framed embroidery is still in the same spot, if you just happen to walk into that room in gramma's house.
anyway, that there's the truth, i just never really convinced myself of it. i was really so confused by the giddiness about the embroidery.
