Scale Model by Ennui
December 19th, 2007 2:57 AMtoo pretentious for its own good? or one of the most influential movements of modern art?
Regardless of your stance, most will tip their hats to the sheer absurdity and outright gall of Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain". A found wall urinal that he simply signed as "R. Mutt "and entered in an exhibition.
So when I read this task, I immediately had the idea to sculpt a tiny version of "Fountain".
I thought 2 things:
1.What could be more absurd (and useless) than a small scale model of an art piece thats main claim to fame is its ready-madeness?
And
2.What could be more fun for me than sculpting a tiny urinal?
The answers I came up with were "nothing"....So I got out the following materials:
Super Sculpey firm
Assorted metal sculpting tools
White acrylic
Clear coat (for glossy sheen)
Pyrex dish (for sculpey baking)

This is the best debut task I've seen in a long time.
Artalicious.
this is excellently done.
have a manditory "welcome to the game" while you're at it.
Yes, welcome to absurdity central.
I must say, your toilet is slightly jaunty.
I think there should be a new button on the submission page. An additional button backed by some powerful AI or something. that appears when the system senses a task of special quality is in progress. A button that instead of Submit Proof simply reads
Win
You could've saved time by buying a really teeny shovel and titling it "In Advance of the Brokei Arm"!
what an excellent first task! hell, it would be excellent if it were a 20th task. welcome!
and sorry i made you cry!
