Time (and medical attention) Heals All Wounds by JTony Loves Brains

February 11th, 2008 10:49 PM / Location: 37.775421,-122.4762

INSTRUCTIONS: Document a wound* as it heals, spending at least 4 days watching its progress. It can be on you or someone/something else. It must be a physical wound in the form of a bruise, a cut, a scratch, a burn, or something else that takes days to heal. No tiny hangnails unless they are impressively slow to heal and interesting to watch as they heal.

For bonus points, have acquired the wound doing something for SF0.

For extra-super bonus points, use leeches to promote circulation or maggots to eat away any dead flesh.

*Please do not cause this wound intentionally.

This is a task I didn't think I would do. The injuries I suffer lately are so minor, or just so boring, that I never think to document them, so days would go by before I'd even think of doing a task like this.

Then, the other day, something happened. I got an injury that I was actually a little proud of, a little happy to own, and that happiness made me remember that I could document it for this task. So although this task is really about healing, for me it is really more about the getting of the injury and of remembering it each time I knelt down to feel the twinge of pain as the scab hit the floor.

I live less than one block from my daughter's school, making it very easy for me to go over and visit, and I've been taking advantage of the time I had before starting my job to visit her during lunchtime.

All of her classmates and friends know me, and they all come running to see if I'll be willing to play with them, and, of course, I am. Mostly we play tag, and mostly it is shadow tag, where, if you are it, you chase after the person you want and try to stomp on their shadow while they try and find places to hide (like in the shadow of a building or fence).

So, we were playing Shadow Tag, and we were playing hard. I can't remember if I was chasing or being chased, but all of a sudden, as I was running full bore, this 10 year old girl who wasn't playing with us ran right in front of me. I tried to stop, but it was impossible. I immediately went into "emergency mode" as my 6'4" 250lb body was about to tackle her <5ft  80lb body full force.

You were proud of taking down a 10-year-old girl? Dude.

Vote, by the way :)

I think he means he was proud of having managed not to tackle her.
(Oh wait, am I doing that thing again where someone is making a joke and I totally miss it and respond seriously?)

What rongo rongo said... besides, she had it commin'.... playing 4 square instead of playing tag with us... =]

No worries about her being injured. Not a hair was out of place when I helped her back up. One of those times when my body just seemed to know what to do to keep injuries to a minimum.

That seems almost exactly like the one that was on my knee o_o
Not the shape, I mean the way you got it and the way it healed.
Neat.

Missed oppurtunity

If only I'd known about SF0 this time last year, this would have been an ideal task. It was about that time that I ran into a tree - see player photograph :)
