(Not) Energy Drink by William Vervalsing

March 2nd, 2008 5:54 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Design and produce a ________ drink. The only adjective that you may not insert in the blank is "energy."

Happy Tea. It combines several known herbal aphrodisiacs and anti depressants to make a delightfully uplifting and perfectly legal hot beverage.

You need:

1 tsp organic fresh lavender
1 tsp dried mint leaves
1 teabag Yerba Matte (or other tea of your choice, but I don't suggest using black tea)
60mg Ginkgo Biloba extract
1 tsp sweetener (to taste)

You could add sweetener if you want, and depending on what brand of Ginkgo you use, you might want to, but it should make you feel pretty good either way. Let me know what you think.

Points for making a beverage that probably does what its name says it will. =)

That picture is AMAZING.

Disregard the fact that that is just a cup of tea. It's wonderful!

Hey, Tom, is Adam a tea geek?

Certainly is.

I've been insulted many a time for only enjoying normal, supermarket tea.

Supermarket tea is the way to go...

Nothing wrong with a little Tetley to start your day!!
(although, I prefer PG Tips...)

Damn straight!

Adam seems to drink Teas with double-barreled/unpronounceable names, nothing beats Tetley!

With a little milk and sugar of course.

Twinings is the only acceptable brand of tea!

Lady Grey is the best.

Like Earl Grey but with a hint of citrus.

It's all about tea kettles, electric kettles are overrated!!

They also make the water taste weird...

Well I would love to use an old-stylee kettle on an Aga range with a ceramic teapot but time constraints hold one back.

Kettle + teabag

Smashing.

It only takes about 3-5 minutes to boil water in a kettle...and you call yourself a dedicated tea drinker???

I do not approve. And by the way, Earl Grey has to be the most boring tea out there. Second to chamomile. Blah!

(PG Tips is my favorite, but I'm currently out... I love me some pyramid shaped tea bags!)

I never have owned and never will own an electric kettle. It's blasphemy, a disgrace to tea totalers everywhere. When I dominate the world, electric kettles will be the first things to go! Then will be SUVs and Spam (of the canned variety).
And thank you Ben, I love to hear about my pictures.

By the way, no tea can so much as hold a candle to Yerba Matte with freshly squeezed lemon juice. I mean REALLY.

Well, I sort of have to go with the electric kettle, but for me it is for safety reasons. I have lit several fires, melted (no, I mean MELTED like freaking DALI WATCHES MELTED) more kettles than I care to mention. Luckily I've never left the house with one on, but I absolutely MUSTMUSTMUST have something that turns itself off. So far, I've only seen electric kettles do this. There are some that are worthwhile (I believe one maker is Russel Hobbes? makes a great one).

As for PG Tips, my wife is GAGA for PG Tips. She got some on the recommendation of a doctor friend of ours who would double up the teabags to make what she and her doctor friends called "Tachycardia Tea". Definitely a good way to start your day! And those little pyramid-shaped bags are soooooo cute!

Yerba Matte ain't tea!. You ignorant blasphemer! It's merely water flavored with herbal stuff.

YOU, my good sir, are terribly confused.

(But I voted for your completion anyways).

umm.... erva mate (i. paraguariensis) may not be c. sinensis, but it's more of a tea, culturally speaking, than most of that celestial seasoning mixed-up meaningless nonsense...

Let's face it, at the end of the day, tea isn't as awesome unless served in some form of novelty mug. Preferably Union Jack based.

I have always been of the school (old) that tea should really be served in fine bone china. Not that I always do this, but I do try. Now that I think about it, where is my Beatrix Potter china cup? I also stand by my statement that herbel tea is just sticks and petals floating in hot water.

So are butterflies, but putting them in a cup with water doesn't make for a good cuppa!!
