Time (and medical attention) Heals All Wounds by The Animus

July 6th, 2008 11:34 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Document a wound* as it heals, spending at least 4 days watching its progress. It can be on you or someone/something else. It must be a physical wound in the form of a bruise, a cut, a scratch, a burn, or something else that takes days to heal. No tiny hangnails unless they are impressively slow to heal and interesting to watch as they heal.

For bonus points, have acquired the wound doing something for SF0.

For extra-super bonus points, use leeches to promote circulation or maggots to eat away any dead flesh.

*Please do not cause this wound intentionally.

I was going to skirt around the suggestion of the task to not cause the wound intentionally -- I ended up bruising a friend of mine in an attempt to see if a small rubberband could break human skin. We failed, but it made for some interesting pictures (as I had just got done with my Night Photography for that area, and everything makes for nice pictures when you can see them). I remembered it was a task and was going to see if I could bend the rules when.....

A dog bit my face.

That's about as interesting as it gets. I was sitting on the floor, the dog comes up, and my girlfriend tells me
"It doesn't bite, it has a shock collar!" as I have my hand out for it to sniff.
I try to take my hand back and open my mouth to ask "Why does it need a shock collar?".
In the language of Dog, that's a grave insult.

So I got owned by a dog. Not the most extravagant wound, but the task was on my mind, and I'm not going to wait to be hospitalized for it.
UPDATE:
Came down with a bunch of boils. Doc called it a carbuncle. I call it MRSA.
YOU DECIDE.
Started out with one. One became two. Two became 16. At it's worst, I got 16, and I'm down to about 12 after some antibiotics.
I tried labeling them so you can watch the progress of some otherwise vague shots of boils.

It's alright. I laughed at it as well. My GeeEff wasn't so chipper about it. :: grins ::

Hmm, I can't decide if I think it's more crazy to get bitten by a dog with a shock collar or to get an injury from the deliberate application of a rubber band.

"wasn't so chipper" is the understatement of the century...

I might update this task.
I recently acquired 6 (six!) boils on my upper legs. One of them's real bad, 3 of them look kind of medium, and the other 2 are just starting. :: sighs :: Who wants to see pictures of pus and blood!?

Updated the task, and the boil count is up to 12.
