Potted Plant Distribution by clown face, Ty Ødin

February 7th, 2010 9:40 AM / Location: 30.011136,-95.15051

INSTRUCTIONS: Acquire a small potted plant. Leave the plant in a store, cafe, or a location of your choosing that has lack of potted plants.

If I may, I would like to begin this praxis by looking at what constitutes a "potted" plant. It is my firm belief that a pot is merely a cylindrical device used for transporting plants and, that being the case, it would seem that a styrofoam cup is a very nice pot, don't you agree?

Upon taking up this task, my fellow player Travis decided it best to push the envelope and send a plant somewhere that no potted plant had ever been before. I'm sure he briefly considered space and, upon finding that actually inserting a plant into space was far harder than one might think, decided the next best thing was to float a plant out to sea. He brought this idea to me and, as is the classic Ty Odin style, I pointed out that driving to the ocean would be horribly difficult without a car. Thus began our collaboration upon potted plant distribution.

We stuck with the nautical theme and, upon acquiring a Styrofoam cup at school and a small plant from the vastness that is nature, found a suitable body of water. You'd think that since we live within easy walking distance of one of the largest bodies of water in Texas ( Lake Houston) we would make use of our fantastically smooth lake to float the plant. We did not.

We found a small creek on the now-abandoned golf course and set the S.S. plant out to sea, bearing its tremendous load of fantastically green plant out onto the water. It's travels are documented in the photographs below. Enjoy.
