Physical Representation Of A Virtual Occurrence by Raizekiel Malbrandt

January 15th, 2009 11:01 PM / Location: 61.572501,-149.3625

INSTRUCTIONS: Create a public or semi-public physical representation of a virtual occurrence.

When I viewed the praxis already submitted for this task, I was surprised no one had done it yet. My inspiration came in the form of the various HTTP error messages, for various reasons. People who chance across them will hopefully know what they are, I know they've annoyed me enough times to recognize at a glance. So! Off to the nearest big box store! NOTE: A HUGE problem in Wasilla, TOO MANY BIG BOX STORES.

Phase One

Phase One

We start with a shoebox, and cut out the bottom.

Phase 1...2

Phase 1...2

And draw a "DAMNIT WHY WON'T YOU LOAD @($*%#&!!!" symbol in the corner.

Phase 1 Final

Phase 1 Final

My sister... OH GOD! REFRESH! REFRESH!

Phase 2

Phase 2

My various error messages to be distributed. Yes, Error 418 says what you think it says.

Phase 3

Phase 3

Here we are with a rather deletable looking picture.

Unfortunately, it seems our flowers didn't load...

In Plain Sight

And back on the shelf with the error page.

Flow- Thru Brush

Flow- Thru Brush

Key words here "Telescoping Handle And Multi-Level Brush Head"

"Telescoping"... But not at the moment.

full view of the unextended brush.

I couldn't decide if this was to be a 403 or 502, but since it wasn't locked, I decided on the latter.

Access, denied.

I wish this was out in the open more, but it's fine.

I LAUGHED SO HARD

I LAUGHED SO HARD

Apparently, someone set up a code as a joke on April Fool's Day a few years ago...

Drum Roll Please

Drum Roll Please

Yes, it's an actual error code. How someone got their server to be a teapot, I have no idea.

Difficulties

Difficulties

This is where I had to decide, tear out a page for my 404 message, or leave it as is...

Okay, Okay

Okay, Okay

I left the book, I couldn't bring it upon myself to tear one out.

I had this exact drive-through in mind when I printed off my 503, a local taco joint, I don't even know WHY they have a drive through, they've never used it.

They Saw

They Saw

Ke ke ke, one of the workers came out and stared at me as I put the sign up on their speaker.

I Was Really Hungry Too...

I Was Really Hungry Too...

Oh well...

Locked

Locked

So I had to acknowledge the locked men's bathroom as forbidden.

I Wouldn't Go In There Anyway...

I Wouldn't Go In There Anyway...

How desperate must you be to use these anyway?

Not exactly an accurate representation, but suitable, no?

Excellent choice of locations. And I approve of not tearing out a page.
