Peacekeeping Uniform Creation by Dr. Subtle
January 8th, 2008 7:43 PM
For this task I chose to instantiate it in real life- to build and wear the real uniform.
To me what truly keeps the peace in this work is badassitude. If the peacekeeper is a badass, no side of any conflict will want to trigger his wrath. See every "mob teams up with police because rogue killer is disrupting everyone's shit" movie and book ever- an enforcer of some sort, with the backing of many desperate organizations and people, is the best kind of peacekeeper.
My uniform, therefore, is a sort of half-military half-shamus, half-1892-anarchist, drawing equally from The Maltese Falcon, The Lost Battalion, and When Gravity Fails.

You might recognize a) the logo, b) the bandanna, c) the unrelated record wall, and d) the big plastic tube weapon w/ guitar strap.

I'm surprised by the lack of comments/criticism. This task hasn't been done since last April, and never as an actual photographed costume.
I actually had a bit of trouble with the task, mostly because of the loose definitions surrounding "Peacekeeper" and "all factions"- it took me a while to rationalize how I could interpret that sentence.

I'm stealing your word "badasstitude" if you don't mind. It seems that some fellow players have picked up some of my ridiculous lingo, so I only feel it fair to take part in the appropriation.
Thanks.
I like your swashy style!
