Impress Me! by Dr. Subtle

INSTRUCTIONS: Create your own coat of arms. Wear or display it publicly.

This task started as a bit of a Halloween project. I wanted to make a mask, not a full costume, but it had to be something that fit the following criteria:

1) It must be badass.
2) It should have horns
3) It should be somewhat personal to me, but in a subtle way.
4) It should reference my current artwork, a series of fliers written as a madman obsessed with Pittsburgh history.

I've been working in my art lately with the idea of a holy cyclops- a one eyed man of justice serving a higher being. I see a lot of myself in such a man. And like the apostles have animals that represent them, so to could my 1-eyed angel have an animal- a bull with the same mark.

And so the character of Henry Clay Frick from the fliers became a sort of Minotaur/Cyclops mask, an externalization of my own badassitude.

I wear it proudly.

This doesn't fit the task at all. It would have been better submitted under Make a New Face or something.

It's an excellent mask though.

Perhaps you are right Charlie...

But, something cameron wrote just struck me....
Early on, someone once told me that the only wrong way to play, is to tell someone else how to play. In the end, taking the piss out of everyone's pretensions,

True. The effort put into making the mask certainly deserves a vote, I don't know why I didn't see it before.
