Service Box Attached To Streetlight by susy derkins

February 18th, 2008 10:49 PM / Location: 19.307396,-99.21049

INSTRUCTIONS: Ever wonder if there's some regulating body that decides who is allowed to cable newpaper boxes to traffic poles? Or who needs to be paid to be allowed to do this? Or, at least, if there's anyone in charge or removing things tied to streetlights that haven't paid to be there? It's time to learn by doing. Your streetlight installation need not be a newspaper dispenser, but it should be secured with chain or heavy-gauge wire to an appropriately large and permanent pole. In theory, this would be something that rests on the ground, and provides something resembling a service - but feel free to go against either of these if needed.

For those reading the small print of the task description, I confess from the beggining that I didn´t secure any box anywhere with either a chain or heavy-gauge wire.
But that was because I didn´t need to: I found an appropriately large and permanent pole with a box already attached to it.

So I used it. That´s the way of the parasite. Deal with it.

But the box does provide something resembling a service, allright.
Is a lending library.
So there.

Look at the piccies and read on.

Do not steal. To work is more honest and safer.

That is a great sign. And a mini library is a great idea for a bus stop.

Yeah, that sign is an anonymous public gift. Signs are great.

Lowteck vote?! Master utility box-attacher himself?! I am deeply honored indeed, sir.

Among bridge players in this area, I am told it is customary to "loan" books with the expectation that they'll be passed on to those who need to learn from them rather than being returned.
