Correspond with a spammer by Juniper Homolko

January 7th, 2011 2:53 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Correspond with a spammer.

I decided to reach out to any spammer I got after accepting this task, hoping at least one of them would be in touch. I was contacted by a beautiful refugee in Senegal and someone from my past stuck in the UK. I'll keep this updated as they respond.

Update - January 8th More from Miss Bugiba located at the bottom of my thread with her. Once my minutes reset next week, I think I'll have to give her a call.

Miss Bugiba,

I must admit that I'm not usually this forward, nor do I usually respond well to forward women. However, I've been finding myself quite lonely as of late.

You see, I'm a lighthouse operator on the coast of Maine. Do you have lighthouses in West Africa? If you'd like, I can send you pictures of the building I work in; the view is utterly breathtaking.

But there I go, rambling on. You'll have to excuse my rudeness. Please, tell me more about yourself. Where did you pick up such a firm grasp of both Russian and English? Is either one your first language?
I must admit I know very little of your region of the world. Which nation do you hail from?

Cheers and all my best,
Edbury

Hello,

The weather has been churlish and deceptive, unlike you, darling Success.

I'm sorry to hear about your family. These are terrible times we're living in. Perhaps that is why I prefer only the crashing waves for my company.

I remember when Guéï was killed in Abidjan. Sometime in 2002, wasn't it? Côte d'Ivoire is a beautiful country. There is a lighthouse in San Pedro that the French built during their occupation. It's quite stunning; though, I have only had the chance to observe it in my books. I do not know much of Senegal. It must be quite temperate there at this time of year, I'd wager.

I've attached a picture of myself at work they took during an interview for Foxlit - a small quarterly for ATON officers. And I disagree, you're quite photogenic. Also, quite striking.

Best,
Edbury

My dearest one

How is your day?. I'm very happy to see your mail this morning ,I hope to be with you very soon and take very good care of you in a way you never imagine before because i believe it takes love and sincerity in building a good and lasting relationship. i really appreciate you in all sincerity of my heart. In this camp we are only allowed to go out only on mondays and friday's of the weeks. Its just like one staying in the prison and i hope by Gods grace i will come out here soon. We don't have any relatives now whom we can go to, as all our relatives ran away in the middle of the war.The only person we have now is Rev.father Mark Vitalis who is the Rev.father here in the camp, he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him rather i live in the female's hostel because the camp have two hostels one for men the other for women.
The Rev. Tel number is (00221-76-344-34-51)if you call, please tell him that you want to speak with me so that he will send for me in the hostel. Call at any time
I want to go back to my studies because i only attended my first year before the tragic incident that lead to the death of my parents took place.
Please listen to this,i have my late father's statement of account and death certificate here with me which i will send to you latter, because when he was alive he deposited some amount of money in a Senegal bank which he used my name as the next of kin,the amount in question is $5.3M(Five Million, three Hundred Thousand Dollars).
So i will like you to help me transfer this money to your account and from it you can send some money for me to get my traveling documents and air ticket to come over to meet with you.
I kept this secret to people in the camp here the only person that knows about it is the Reverend because he is like a father to me. So in the light of above i will like you to keep it to yourself and don't tell it to anyone for i am afraid of loosing my life and the money if people gets to know about it.
Remember i am giving you all this information due to the trust i deposed on you.I like honest and understanding people, truthful and a man of vision, truth and hardworking.
Dear i will like you to send me your information, your home address ,your phone number ,country of origin and your photo .
Meanwhile i will like you to call me like i said i have alot to tell you. Call at any time. Have a nice day and think about me. Awaiting to hear from you soonest,
Yours Forever in love.

Great Success,

Our bulb went out last night, and we lost a man over the rail. Usually, this profession isn't dangerous - even in the harshest of storms, the tower will protect us. However, our new boy, Dylan, was hell bent on fixing the aperture during the storm. His daring may have saved lives, had he succeeded. But this isn't an appropriate topic for a young woman who has already suffered so much loss.

Coincidentally enough, my life here is much like a prison as well! A prison, however, of my choosing. The apprentices cannot be left alone and until I am relieved for my time off, I must stay with the lighthouse. Our mail must arrive via West African Refugee Post - since it only comes twice a week! Please excuse the joke. I'm still shaken from last night's events, but your mail has calmed me in ways inexpressible.

Had I a phone of my own, I would be on the line to your Reverend Vitalis as I type. However, the navy does not provide us with personal land lines, and the coast of Maine this far north knows nothing of cellular service.

It would appear, my dearest, that you are sitting on a king's ransom! How you've kept this secret for all these years is beyond me, but it is probably best that you have - for I am a man you can trust.

Though, I do not have a landline I can use for international calls, you may reach me by regular mail at:

#59 State House Station
Augusta, ME, United States 04333-0059

When I have my next leave, I will be sure to call you as soon as I reach our nearest town, my love.

Your most loyal and obedient servant,
Edbury

P.S. You are, as ever, a most breathtaking young woman. I have attached a more recent photo of myself for your enjoyment.

It’s me, Franco. I really don't mean to inconvenience you right now, I made a little trip to UK and I misplaced my luggage that contains my passport and credit cards, I know this may sound odd, but it all happened very fast. I need to get a new passport and a ticket, but I'm short of funds to pay for my ticket and other miscellaneous expense. Please, can you lend me some funds to get a ticket? I'll be willing to pay back as soon as I get home.

Please respond as soon as you get this message, so I can forward you my details to send the funds to me, OR you can drop a message via the hotel's desk phone if you can. The numbers are, +447045733705.

I await your response

Franco,

Oh my god. How horrible. I haven't heard from you in a few years; you're Angela's nephew right? Have you gotten in touch with your parents?

This happened to Julian last year in Jordan or some place over there. If you aren't able to get in touch with anyone, let me know. I'd feel terrible if you were stuck over there.

What city are you in?

Cheers,
Edbury

I Promise to pay back what ever you can assist me with as soon as I get home.

I will be very grateful if you can assist me with the fund. Let me know so that I can forward you my information to send funds via western union money transfer.

Hi Franco,

Thank goodness, I was worried that you might not have access to the world wide web where you are.

I spoke to Richard, and he is actually in Leeds right now. He's offered to come out to wherever you are and cover your expenses (I would make the trip from Dernheim, but we are actually back in the states right now to see Lilian's new baby). Have you alerted the embassy regarding your missing passport? It's going to be the devil getting home if you haven't.

Keep in touch; I'll be here at Lily's all day.

Best,
Edbury

Franco,

You're starting to worry me. You haven't answered any of my questions! And you're in some strange country without any money.

Maybe this isn't even you. What if some person in London has taken over your account? Shame on them.
Or worse, it could be drugs.

I think I had better get your parents' number from Angela. This isn't like a Verdino at all to behave like this!

Richard is only three hours away. I can have him come into the city today.

Franco. Please, just let us help you.

I'm worried,
Edbury

I like the set-ups. I look forward to some kind of conclusion. Wait really is the hardest part.
But waiting can sometimes yield remarkable results.

This looks quite promising. I shall have to take a look back at this later to see how things progress. I *SO* want to vote for this right now, but I can't bring myself to vote a 5 now, and if it turns out well, you will definitely deserve that, so I will refrain, and come back to check on this later.
