Straight Line by Fernando Conrads, Mr. Hollywood
January 19th, 2009 11:02 PMSo, the obvious choice for this task in my mind was a treadmill, as it's probably the straightest line of all. No obstacles as well. I figured i may as well make it continuous, so the following walk was taken without any breaks. Six continuous hours of walking at about .7 mph. But who wants to journey on their own, so i asked my good friend Brian if he'd like to accompany me.

We just simply do not. We let them think what they may... which hopefully is not something sad :(
lol i can not agree, as i've actually shown my mom the website. this isn't fight club, i think. otherwise i broke rules one and two.
I love the fact that you used the same treadmill for your death march - my goodness you guys look happy to be doing it.
.7mph is a LITTLE slow, but kudos for a job well done ;->
Then again 4.2 miles in tandem, barefoot, with no real change in scenery or pace, and being both rather constricted in formation, with not even a two second break... may actually have been more grueling than the standard death march.
The feet definitely look familiar (better proof than a digital clock in my mind):
Also, you may wonder why we call it "going Lincoln." There's a good discussion of it here, although my takeaway from that thread was that its a style that looks good on a lot of us.
Actually, I heard the term "going Lincoln" just a few days before doing this task when I mentioned to a friend that it would make a good task to go barefoot for a certain period of time and he informed me that it already had in fact already been a task
This is an interesting, if masochistic, interpretation of this task. Fernando is a master of endurance.
Okay, I do vote for six hours and for going Lincoln, even if it's indoors on a treadmill.
Do please tell us more — specifically I'm interested in the substance of what you did in Oblivion while you walked.
I want someone (dare I say everyone?) else to do outdoor interpretations, but there is nothing wrong with this choice.
I was attempting to play with the dog while walking backwards but he stole the toy straight from my hands :'(
Tandem treadmilling is quite a feat. I'm surprised you didn't listen to ABBA at the same time, though.
Truly, Fernando, you are the master of endurance! However, I am also sad that there was no ABBA involved in this task.
Most excellent. Most excellent indeed.
I like that you really followed the instructions:
Continue until the whole project becomes untenable.
How exactly are you guys explaining that behaviour to your families?
