Utilikilt Challenge by Tøm, GYØ George

December 20th, 2007 1:08 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create clothing or other item-to-wear that updates an ancient, traditional, or lost fashion to befit today's urbanite. Do aim for comfort.

A prime example being the utilikilt.

Preparation
This task was bought on by the need of a nice, simple and awesome way of storing water weapons for the big fight!

I had thought of just doodling on a shirt, but that wouldn't help much, and once I had the miniguns, I knew I had to build something.

In the end, I came up with this bandoleer, built from origami cups and bungee rope. Complete with matching holster, a specially designed destroyed shirt and other odd accessories.

George came up with the most protective gear, waterproofs, coats, several hats (including Boris, the Russian hat) and scarf.

On the day
well, the origami holsters fell off, after a leaking weapon put paid to them. Final additions were the paint mask, the hat and the bandanatie. The bungee cord still held the two larger guns, so it wasn't a complete fail. The shirt washed off slightly, and the target was hit a LOT.

Georges gear worked, until we stole his hat, poured water in it, and made him wear it again.

Well, still Georges hat dried very quickly, he explained to me because of the warmth (he went into much detail(probably too much :D))

I'm not sure

what has been updated in your ensembles?

The ammo belt seems to have been updated for the urbanite's water weapons, as the modern day urbanite has little use for a real gun.

although some of these seemed to have backfired a bit

you don't need a gun maybe.

If you don't have a gun, the king of England could just waltz right in and steal your house.

But a water gun counts just as much.

You made a bandolier out of paper cups? For a water fight?

Which is why it fell apart before I even got out of the house!

At least the bungee cord served as a makeshift holster :D

Everything needs a first draft.

We learn from our first drafts how to improve next time.

Exactly, Tom, exactly. You want the king of England comin' into your house? Do ya? Do ya?
