The Highest Place by Hemingway Kat, Crusher Joe

We decided to take this task at face value, as a kind, gentle way of easing back into the game.
Determining our "anything" was a fairly simple process - something in our vicinity. So we started with the center of our world. The highest point of our apartment? No, that would involve standing on the dining room table, and not only would that make for a particularly boring completion... well, it's a nice table, so...
We moved outward. The highest point of our neighborhood? We live in a fairly flat neighborhood. This would involve being on a roof somewhere. It was at this point we decided that what we were looking for was the highest naturally occurring geographical point.
The highest point of Austin? Perfect. Though Texas is a pretty flat state, we are in "the hill country."
We quickly ascertained that this would be Mount Bonnell, overlooking beautiful lake Austin. After some fact-checking, we found that this was indeed what we were looking for.
From the website: "
Mount Bonnell is generally considered the highest point in Austin at 775 feet..."
Okay, so it's not very high.
We determined that our route to the "mount" would take us down W. 35th street, Crusher Joe's street arch-nemesis. But we made it all safe and sound-like.
Our hike to the highest point in Austin was prettier and more pleasant than we expected, leading both of us to believe that we had had a very good idea, if only because we discovered a neat new place.
Once at the top, we were treated to quite a lovely view, including my other favorite landmark in Austin, the loop 360 bridge. The only thing, in my opinion, marring the view were the fancy-pants million dollar homes scattered beside the lake. Oh, well.

I love it!
It's one of my new favorite spots in Austin.

Is it nonchalantly pretending to be a wayside or something?

Nice pictures, even if they do have some extraneous hands.
Hey, guys! Looks like you've been gone quite a while - welcome back!
