Campaign Trail by Adam

November 7th, 2007 8:34 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Run for SFZero senatorial office. Lay out your platform. Engage in vicious mudslinging against your opponents and reveal secrets from their sordid past. Curry political favors from the powerful SFZero Players' Union. Take promo photographs of you kissing babies and shaking hands with community leaders.

If you receive 25 votes on this task you will be elected and sworn in. You will receive a senatorial badge (). You may then select a congressional committee and subcommitte (e.g. Ways and Means:Oversight, Appropriations:Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, etc.) and pass pork barrel legislation to benefit members of your group. The committee and subcommittee you select should reflect your character's personal goals within SFZero and your methodology for achieving those goals.

.

Haven't voted yet? It's probably because my campaign is a bit pretentious to be honest. As a resuly I have decided to try and revive my campaign by laying out simply why I should be elected to senate.

- I help out new players when they need a hand, I hope my simple messages and comment have helped bring the community
- I have been a key player in the SF0 Podcast which has created a soapbox for SF0ers and a great way for us to hear what is going on
- I have added 96 completed to the praxis and I have recieved 27 fleur-de-lis for my work.
- I have collaborated with Alternative City Zero
s and the original SF0 on tasks such as Little Less Light, High Fived and the on-going epic collaboration the Penny Push organised by me.
- I try to be regually active on the website helping players and also commenting on people's tasks and voting.
- I was the second player to be
Level 8 in this era and also achieved Level 8 in the last era but one.
- I maintain a regular third or second place on the player leader board.
- I have had 5 tasks accepted for game-play and have submitted many more.
- I am Anti-BoJo

Now, of course you will want to know where I stand. So here are my takes on the important issues affecting SF0.

Broccoli After actually tasting this vile object I propose to ban it from any public place, I shall also make efforts to end the Broccoli Bonsai conspiracy, the public have suffered enough at the hands of this vile tree in cognito.

Hills I do not support either the UP nor DOWN camps but instead would like to see mediation between the two. We need to preserve hills which we can be proud of such as the Sutro Tower hill, Parliament Hill in England and Castle Hill in Edinburgh but down with those which do nothing but cause havoc such as Ben Nevis, Snowdon and pointless hills such as Box Hill and How Hill.

SCIENCE! I full support the cause of SCIENCE! but would like to see further progression of causes such as HUMANITIES! which I am fondly interested in. However I would say that the rise in MATHS! needs to be curved as it is causing some major flash backs to GCSE exams and MATHS! holds not place in a game such as this.

Robots MKII is a friendly robot and amazing a political strategy so I will be employing him as my chief advisor if I get elected. Robots should be encouraged to work alongside instead of for humans and we can live in peace.

Zombies We'll see.

Rubin I would like to see a curb on Rubin to the point where he would be almost un-noticable. This does not mean I want to ban or banish Rubin but we may look at that option in the future.

Shplanking Of course I would encourage as many shplanks as possible but this does not mean I would want to see fewer Run of the Mill completions, in fact I would prefer to see greater emphasis on all tasks being well completed.

Law and Order Of course law and order is important in everyday life but I would like to see a new system which I call Peace and Harmony. As long as you don't hurt anyone or damage their property in any major way then any crime may be comitted in the name of good praxis.

If I was to be elected I believe I could serve both Great Yarmouth as a second GY0 senator but also Pascifitonia as the nation's first international representative on a real board.

Its a pity this is only a 1 player task.

If we created a Watmuff account we could've collab'd with me and Adam.

This sounds more like running for British government than sf0 senate.

What is your stance on Rubins for example?

I am worried that you are in favor of change, have legislated in favor of carbon reduction, but stand by Rubin. He is a member of the 'Impex' faction, against the openness and change of glasnost.

The deciding question here may very well be:

What is your position on broccoli?

Also: China? Desserts? Chinese Desserts?

(no subject)
posted by Loki on November 9th, 2007 2:04 AM

Hmmm. I appreciate that this candidate has chosen to go with a positive, issues-driven campaign. And, the video is great. (If you ask me, it would serve you well to make it a more prominent part of the task writeup.)

I'm all for crushing 4x4s, ending university tuition, increased taxes on petrol, and improved national healthcare. Can't say I'm particularly passionate in support of either side of the fox hunting debate. . . but, I suppose your side is a pretty good bad one. And, while truly fantastic beuracracy deserves to be celebrated as an art form and ought to warrant special government protections, I can accept his views on the matter.

Still, as a non-resident of Great Yarmouth, what's your campaign got to offer me?

What's your position on the critical issues that stir SF0: calendar reform, broccoli, robots, mutant kittens, and zombies?

Why do you dodge the China question? (Have you something to hide?)

Also, if i may step back for a moment and say something outside of the bounds of this narrative - I hope you won't take it hard that your campaigns are shaping up to be a lot of hard slogging. Not only did you wind up hitting the praxis during a deluge of task submissions, but you also landed right on the heels of two senate campaigns *and* at a time when a lot of people are sort of fed up with self-referential in-game tasking. I'm sure in time enthusiasm and votes will go your way.

Just to outline my recent policies after a major policy rethink!

DOWN with broccoli. Damn people you are right, it is officially damned awful. Especially on closer inspection and taste (Ive never tried it before).

UP with hills. In some circumstances. Down with baby-killing hills but up with Sutro Tower hill and up with hills that make things look cool.
