Create Art "Under the Influence" by Borgasm
October 30th, 2009 2:33 PMI know this is sort of Rin's thing, but here's a song for you to listen to while you look at my pictures. It's just too perfect for this praxi to not include. :P
Last night was...how should I put this? Hell. There's been so much stress lately building up that I was almost in tears last night when my roommate and best friend put on her coat and shoes and pulled out her pipe. I asked where she was headed and she said she and our friend Chef were headed out to smoke. She'd been listening to me vent for the last fifteen minutes and asked me if I wanted to come with, although she said "I don't think it's really your thing." I told her that this night would be a very good night for me to feel the effects of cannabis for the first time. I couldn't sleep, and if I didn't relax soon I was going to have an emotional breakdown. I was already starting to cry, as I mentioned above. My friend had described the calming effects of pot enough for me to be very willing to do it.

Now, I would just like to point out that there was not any form of peer pressure going on. The fact that I grew up in the middle of Alaska and my first time getting high wasn't until college should speak volumes for my ability to resist peer pressure. I had never been for or against pot, and the main reason that I'd never done it was simply lack of opportunity. Nobody had heard of me getting high so nobody asked me to get high with them. Nobody thought it was "my thing," so it wasn't. It wasn't a big deal to me, so I didn't seek it out. Because I was never at the wild parties, people thought I didn't want to party. :P So I've never been high, drunk, wasted, smashed, stoned, etc. and I am okay with that.
Anyway, on with the story.

When we got outside, the northern lights (or aurora) came out. At first they were weak and Puma and I taunted them while Chef, who had never seen any aurora before, freaked out. About the time we were halfway through, however, the aurora came into full swing, filling up the ENTIRE SKY above our heads. We were all amazed and started jumping around and taking pictures.

I was definitely stoned when we got back to our room and I remembered that there was a task on sf0 about making art under the influence. So, I pulled out my sketchbook as we put in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, grabbed some coloured Sharpies and got to drawing the pictures I took of the aurora. At one point, Chef laughed at me and told me that when I got up in the morning they would not be the amazing works of art I firmly believed I was creating.

Aaaand he was right. :P
All in all, we had a pretty epic adventure and this morning I woke up feeling refreshed, relaxed and much less anxious. Not bad for a first experience.
:D
Before we even got started, the aurora came out. Our friend Chef had never seen it before and freaked out. These pictures from my camera don't do it justice at all.
"whistle at it!!"
For some reason people believe that when you whistle at the aurora it dances along. And it does, kind of. I think at one point Chef was beatboxing or something to it.
A soaring eagle...wtf?
Last night we were all freaking out about how much this looked like a "soaring eagle." See, the wings are spread out, and there's the head, and you can kind of see the feet, and...screw it, we were high.

My artistic interpretation of the aurora. I totally thought this was gonna be a Sharpie masterpiece.
I look way too happy.
"Watch, you're gonna wake up in the morning and that drawing's gonna look like a piece of shit." "Fuck you! it's gonna be so amazing!!"
King of the Forest
Puma decided to join in on the drawing and drew this...I told her it looked like a vagina to me (which it did at the time) and we named it after a quote from Harold and Kumar.

That was the most heartwarming story of getting stoned I've ever read.
