Ironing Iron with the Iron Horse by Ben Yamiin

December 18th, 2007 8:54 PM / Location: 37.764082,-122.4659

INSTRUCTIONS: This task was created as a gift for Kyle Crocodile:

Use a train to flatten something. Collect the results.

Bonus points if the train honks at you.

Turkey has been long attempting to join the European Union.

Several factors have been hampering its accession, including the division of Cyprus, its treatment of its Kurdish citizens, and the large size of the country (which would allow it a lot of weight in European elections).

However, there are many cultural factors that draw parallels between some of the core parts of the European Union and the Turkish Republic. Let's examine some of these:

It is very clear that these two entities need to be joined. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!

(like a train)

Mighty MUNI Justice will accomplish what decades of negotiation couldn't!

My expectations of MUNI Justice seems to have been inflated.

Not even a multi-ton train could bring these two nations together. It did seem to completly obliterate the faces of both coins, however. Without touching the denominations of the coins nearly at all.

No union, but the obliteration of national symbols and the preservation of monetary value. I welcome interpretation.

So, if you can't join 'em, crush 'em?

I wonder how many other tasks can be turned into matters of international diplomacy?

we vote for the attempted unification of peoples by the symbolic smudging of their currencies. Perhaps that this did not work is representative of the notion that integration should be about combining and exchanging and not a forced merger of two uniquely differing bodies.

or maybe not, dunno.

Makes me wonder if you force two people together which bits get obliterated.
