Invent a New Word by Juxtapolemic, Poisøn Lake, Murdoc

May 12th, 2007 12:14 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Invent a new word, come up with a realistic sounding meaning.

Use the word in common everyday sentences; define for those who inquire.

Task is complete when someone else starts using your word.

Bjorking-off: Verb.
A) to pleasure one's self by imitating Bjork;
B) to sing along with more than 70% of any Bjork album;
C) to sing with intentional dissonance &/or atonal variation;
D) to attempt the intonation of three or more musical notes within the space of a single syllable;
E) to disregard reality by submerging one's self entirely into a Bjork-centered pseudo reality.

Des gets credit as my inspiration for the creation of "Bjorking-off", & David gets credit both for being the first (other than myself) to put it to use in regular conversation, & for contributing (unintentionally) to definition D & thereafter suggesting definition E.

Its the same kind of relief that comes with a diagnosis.

I have been compulsively bjorking-off for years, but have been shamefully keeping these behaviors to myself. Knowing that there are enough others out there to merit a word for it has given me the courage to finally come out. Thank you.

How did I miss this? I've been doing it for years, but I never knew what to call it!
