Exquisite Dérive by Loøke Jr., elliot Matthews, Stefan Lund

July 18th, 2011 11:08 PM / Location: 44.986284,-93.25501

INSTRUCTIONS: Go on a walking journey and every fifteen feet draw a chalk arrow in the direction you're going. At the end of the trip, leave a big pile of chalk so a stranger can continue your journey.

OR

Walk a short route alone, then send a collaborator the last segment of your trip so that they can pick up where you left off. You may complete this in separate cities by using more generic instructions (e.g. walk three blocks, then turn left). Finally, walk the complete route you and your collaborators have created.

Lovely night, too lovely to spend another instant of it indoors. This is summer darn it. We love doing chalk drawing anyway and when we found this task we knew it would be perfect. Towards the end, I'll admit it, we kind of ran out of ideas for ways to draw arrows. But hey, that's what the exquisite Derive is all about, having some one carry on in your place. Carry on imagination, carry on...

Awesome job on the creatively drawn arrows, however I would have liked to have seen parts of the trip you actually had people following! Also: Did you go back later to see if anyone had continued on?
