Office Arms Race by SNORLAX
September 4th, 2007 2:00 AMThis task was a lot of fun. I went to my work on a holiday (mon 9/3/07), thinking I would be the only one there. There were actually quite a few people there (who stayed late too), which made it a little awkward. I gathered all the supplies in my office and started experimenting and that drew some attention and a few questions. I tried to briefly explain the duel, but I scared them when I told them I was making a mace.
I went to my office with nothing more than safety goggles (I feared for my eyes) and a camera. I made and filmed everything without leaving the building or purchasing more supplies. although I did end up dismantling part of one of my filing cabinets.
I started by gathering all the office supplies, most of which I didn't end up using.

I made a variety of weapons, here they are:
(all demonstrated in the youtube videos)
THE LIGHT-DUTY WEAPONS
Simple binder clip launcher - a simple binder launcher can be made with nothing more than a small and a medium binder clip.

Special binder clip launcher - This one can launch a binder clip with devastating power. It can also be outfitted with thumbtacks for extra damage

Rubber band launcher - Anyone can launch a rubber band. Nothing special here

Pencil/pen launcher - this is my favorite light-duty weapon. It can launch pencils very far, it has good accuracy, AND it can be reloaded quickly.

THE HEAVY-DUTY WEAPONS
LT5000 SUPER RIFLE - This one is my favorite! It can launch a pen or pencil in much the same way as the light duty pencil launcher. Quick loading, accurate, and good range. It also has A BAYONET!! I suppose it could double as a spear.

Nunchuck - for the office ninja. The weapon Michelangelo of the ninja turtles uses.

Flail - The flail of six tails- This one can hurt, but I don't think it'll do much damage unless it hits something sensitive like the eyes.

Mace - Very dangerous bludgeoning tool.

My target:

I actually highly respect Burn Unit, despite anything my character might do in this task that says otherwise.

Your cat-o-six-tails made me giggle, but B.U.'s trebuchet is pretty rockin' and gets my vote.
I thought about voting for the flaming ball of colored shredded paper. Fire is dangerous.
But letter openers are more deadly.
And deadly is what gets my vote.
I like the "Introducing Microsoft Word" tone of voice, e.g. "binder clips can also be used with each other to make a launcher."
OTOH, now people will think SFZero players are weird
Lookout lame ass pencil pushers, Lowteck might just shoot a freakin missle through your cubicle. Now all you need is an Office War task to put those to good use...
a pretty crushing defeat I'd say. I'm satisfied in the traditional sense, of course.
Also, hilarious! "chaaaarge!"
sheeesh. spit take!
also, that bloody baby picture is something else.
So… the video on the news page said something about death and a princess.
This either means… Burn Unit needs to just go ahead and die and that Lowtech just got himself a princess. ~Or~ That we need to kill a princess!
This marks my first vote -- and comment -- on SF0. Thanks for the laughs and inspiration.
Wow, some of those look pretty deadly. I wouldn't want to mess with you. I am afraid that the projectiles from the trebuchet would probably be unsucessful in stopping an attack by you. You have long range and melee weapons, you demo the decimating of your opponent. I like it. Nicely done.
