Recycleable fashion by rongo rongo

February 24th, 2008 6:26 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Make clothing out of trash. Simply wearing clothes found in the trash, however, would be rather boring.

Well, prom season will be upon us before you know it, and in celebration of the fashion mistakes of my youth, I don this recyleable creation.

Plastic fashion

Yep, I still get the daily newspaper in physical form. They deliver them in these plastic sleeves.

The garment

This is not one of those dresses with enough whaleboning to stand up by itself.

No bows

No bows

Although no frilly dress seems complete without a butt-bow, I ran out of plastic bags.

As always, I wish the butt bow was there, but a lovely frock none the less.

I think it's generally cheesy to vote for my sweetie's task, but I just think this one is extra cool.

Oh alright, being the photographer was an excellent if unintended bribe. :D

My vote is for the Boston Globe, which I still read daily (though admittedly only the sports section).

Butt bow! Tell me you have heard of Deirdre Flint and not just spontaneously generated that term from your own subconscious!

Although now that I think of it, that would also be cool.

As is the dress itself.

Sparrows Fall, I'm afraid that anyone who has ever bought a wedding dress is familiar with the term! Don't know where it started at all, though.

Agreed, this was a good completion. And the bridesmaid's gown really ought to tie with the tux, for symbolism's sake if nothing else.

The fact that that term is universal unsettles me.

I went hunting for the Flint song anyway, and found a sample of it on her website, but only the first half or so. The second half is the best. The first, however, is still amusing: Bridesmaid Dress.
