Invent a New Word by anna one

May 4th, 2007 12:36 AM / Location: 37.766313,-122.4480

INSTRUCTIONS: Invent a new word, come up with a realistic sounding meaning.

Use the word in common everyday sentences; define for those who inquire.

Task is complete when someone else starts using your word.

schmer: to be happy, as in 'crazy in love' kinda happy

I realize that I really half-assed this here task. I apologize. This is why Rubin is so very, very, very angry.
While being drunk and happy and a happy drunk is one of my best qualities, I clearly should not actually post proofs while intoxicated, however gleeful I might feel. Here's my new definition:

sch•mer |SH mər|
exclamation
used to express delight, love, joy; yay

verb [intrans.]
cry "schmer."

ORIGIN late 20th cent.: perhaps used originally as a lover's cry when being overwhelmed by the influence of Springtime.

Common usage:

"Awwww.... puppy is sooo cute! Schmer!"
"Have I told you lately that I love you? Schmer!"
[while eating fudgy-chocolate-soufflé at Bissap Baobab] "Schhhh....meeeerrrr...."
etc.

This task is complete, as I have, since it's conception taught at least five other people to use this word. The current high-score 'schmer' user has just recently joined the game. The attached photo documents an evening of much 'schmer-ing' because that's what seeing Air does to people. Hopefully, it does it to you too.

On a totally different word-topic, I feel it my duty to note that my family on my father's side proudly identify themselves as Wordsmiths, in that each member of the family frequently adds new words to the English language. 'Wordsmith', I believe, is a word of my paternal-grandmother's invention, defined as 'one who creates new words.'

Could you use it in a sentence?

No, I use it mostly as a statement by itself.

Shal...Koyâh, I have fixed this for you.
I hope it's smear-fully better.

Are you saying....

...that I don't need alter ego's cause I am weird enough and most people would figure my real name was just a made up player name?

Or is that just out of habit.

I love it when gramatical intonation, inflection, modulation, and the like, come across in text.

I think you and I both have names that sound like made-up player names. But yes, it's also out of habit.

I take it from your vote that my re-tasking pleases you! Huzzah!

I think I found you an upside down ə
