Board Game by anna one, Lank

December 30th, 2007 11:11 PM / Location: 37.766372,-122.4480

INSTRUCTIONS: Create an unconventional board game.

Bonus points for inserting your board game, including detailed rules, into a public place where the game has a chance of being played. For instance, a cafe. You may also combine this task with Reverse Shoplifting

anna one, Inc. presents:

SFØ: The Bored Game (1.0 beta)
Now you can play this fast paced and fascinating at-home version of our beloved real-world game. No batteries needed!

All you will need to play is not included in the box!
Combine the attached .pdf printable version with:
• six pieces of standard US Legal size paper or EU equivalent
• six play-pieces (preferably appropriated from Clue⁄®
• one (1) six (6) sided die.
It's that easy!
BG_fullboard.jpg
GAME PLAY:

START, each player rolls the die
to receive their group-
1- Biome, take a green piece
2- HC, take a yellow piece
3- BARTpa, take a blue piece
4- Equivalenz, take a red piece
5- UofA, take a black piece
6- SNIDE, take a purple piece

After selecting a group, you may not change
even if you land on a different group in your
successive turns in the first six spaces- you
will remain in this group until specifically
instructed to change.

When a player lands on a space designated
as the group he/she is a part of, that
player may roll again, even if the space instructs
the player to move ahead or backwards.

Landing on a task, collect the points indicated-
but only if it is a multi-group task (light blue)
or a task of your designated group. Note that
towards the end of the game board, many tasks
are multi-group- a task designated BARTpa/BIOME
can be scored by both BARTpa and BIOME players.
Your final score will indicate the winner at the end
of the game.

The player who reaches the new era first ends
the game. At this point all players must calculate
their final score. Highest # of points wins!

Lank & I tested the game, to find problem spots and assess the playability of the game. He also assisted with some of the space descriptions and debated the rules list to refine it for simplicity.

Clue game pieces work rather well- there's a green, yellow, blue, red and purple... Ms. White works for UofA, since she's colorless. The anti-art-color.

Some things need fixing... some of the 'skip ahead' or 'go back' instructions leave you in a loop...

A possible rule suggested was to ban players from re-collecting the points from task-spaces where they'd already landed in the game. However, we found this hard to recollect... especially with Scotch involved.

A fix coming in the 1.1 version will move the Bubblesort's ghost space to another location, replacing it with "Hungover: No tasking today."

Lank assisted with testing.

For all it's faults, the game was still fun to play, and we had even 1-1 wins, playing twice for testing.

Assembly Instructions

Assembly Instructions

There are six .pdf files, which should be assembled in this pattern. A fix coming up in version 1.1 will address the printing issue with the 'Drama' space.

What? Are you kidding me, I'm supposed to be writing a play right now.

Damnit!

Hey, Rubin and the Watmuff!

I'm sorry, I'll have to come back, I'm experiencing gravity poisoning.

Love it!
