my inspiration for this was that a friend did that, for a week, for her own amusement.

Who's that? It can't be Dez, but it sounds like something she'd do.
I would suggest an addedum to this task which goes something like:
Then choose a different color and for the next 24 hours eat only food of that color. And so on for a week.
