I am not an Aesthematician and I had come to the conclusion that I lack skills to make things, let alone beautiful art objects. And is not that I don´t care about art: I can be moved by it but I am utterly unable to make it.
Now, take graffiti: even though there are amazing murals in the city, graffiti is more about the tags. They take skill and they look clever but they are more designs than art. IMHO, of course. Which opens the possibility that I might be able to do graffiti, exactly because is not art. It can be scruffy and is still graffiti.
So, I worked with a 3D way of doing my graffiti tag. And I came up with a piece of clear hose, that could be twisted and could keep a twisted shape.
So, after much twisting I settled on a flattened version of 3D triketra knot, and got to work into using the hose as a mold for the fantastic plastic wrap/packing clear tape Lincoln´s technique . Man, that was hard work! It takes a lot of dexterity! And I was only doing a very simple shape, and had two hands to work on! Lincoln is superhuman, but we all know that already.
Once I finished covering the hose up, I tried to open the cast by cutting it and sliding the hose out, like a foot from a sock. Ha! Unsuccessful, to say the least. I tried to open it by slashing it lenghtwise, I cut my finger, I gave up my hope to recovering the hose.
Then I put the glow sticks in it. And hung it from a dental floss rope, in front of a wall.
Is scruffy and plain and not overly interesting, and is still graffiti.
Here it is.
I´ll make more of these tags and take them to better walls. This is just the beggining.
