No Jaywalking by zer0gee

Happy Taskgiving extravaganza! I decided to combine this task with Something Very Good on Thanksgiving. I started out waiting on my chosen corner. After either something fantastic happened or half an hour had passed, I followed the walk signal as indicated in this task. When I came to an intersection with a don't walk signal, I stopped on that corner and waited again. I repeated this pattern until I was finished tasking. There will be links in the praxis below to take you to the related praxis at the appropriate times.
I tend to think of this task as a derive of sorts, so that's how I treated it. The city told me where to go and I looked at interesting things along the way - photos are below.
I started at the corner of Belmont and Clark because this can be a very exciting corner, and I have a lot of history there. Back in the late eighties, all kinds of alternative kids used to hang out there after the teen club closed at four in the morning - the Dunkin' Donuts on that corner is still nicknamed "Punkin' Donuts" because of this. I had some really good times there. Most recently - about two weeks ago - I saw a jaw-dropping brawl among a large group of about thirty transvestites, which included a whole lot of pulling hair and tearing off of clothing, accompanied by screeching and name-calling. You never know what's going to happen at that intersection. As fate would have it, nothing really spectacular did.
detour!
After half an hour, I followed the walk signal one block east to Belmont and Halsted, where the don't walk signal stopped me again.
detour!
From here, the signals sent me one block south to a three-way intersection at Halsted, Clark, and Barry.
detour!
After that, I went four blocks southeast to Clark, Diversey, and Broadway.
detour!
(a man with a long white beard I pass smiles and says, "Gobble gobble gobble!" I laugh back.)
Then I was off to Diversey and Sheffield.
detour!
A weird quirk of slanted crosswalks and a string of walk signals sent me a long way down to Lincoln and Webster.
detour!
(a man on a bike rides by and says, "Happy Turkey Day!")
I consider this a dead end because if I didn't quit at that point, I would be dead - I had to go pick up Molotov from her place of employment so we could get to makin' the Thanksgiving dinner.
one more time!
