Time (and medical attention) Heals All Wounds by zer0gee

August 20th, 2008 1:28 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Document a wound* as it heals, spending at least 4 days watching its progress. It can be on you or someone/something else. It must be a physical wound in the form of a bruise, a cut, a scratch, a burn, or something else that takes days to heal. No tiny hangnails unless they are impressively slow to heal and interesting to watch as they heal.

For bonus points, have acquired the wound doing something for SF0.

For extra-super bonus points, use leeches to promote circulation or maggots to eat away any dead flesh.

*Please do not cause this wound intentionally.

On Sunday, July 13th, I went a-tasking with CG0. The next night, as I was changing into my PJs, I discovered that I had wounded myself during the previous evening's escapade. While climbing over a six-foot welded steel wall, I thought I had just caught my skirt on the pokey welded steel spikes on the top (put there to keep hooligans such as CG0 from, well, climbing over the six-foot wall). But, no, I had actually caught myself as well.

The cut is about two and a half inches long, and did not start to hurt at all until I actually saw it, which is often the way these things work. For the first couple of days, it was pretty raw and painful and stuck to my undershorts - I had a three-day business conference and did a lot of sitting down. About four days in, I spaced out after showering and scrubbed the damn thing with a towel, doing extra hit points of damage and prolonging the healing process. It healed up pretty fast after that - the bruises surrounding the cut were gone about a week and a half after the initial injury. At the time of this writing, it's a little longer than a month after the injuring, and it appears that I will most probably end up with a decent scar. This neither surprises nor alarms me, as I mark up fairly easily, don't mind scars, and have a funny story to tell.

WARNING: The following photos are by no means pornographic, but they ARE pictures of my rear end, so you might not want to be checking them out at work, around children, or if you just don't want to see pictures of my rear end.

Nice bruising, cut slightly bloody - surpraxis, I got injured bridge climbing with CG0 on Sunday night!

Here's some artsy ass pr0n for you guys. The swelling can clearly be seen in this one.

I got a few other injuries on the climb, but nothing else as impressive as my butt cut.

"Man what?! I cut myself on the bridge?!" No, zer0gee - you cut yourself on the ASS.

Not a lot of change yet, still pretty sore.

In this photo, I have just gotten out of the shower, where I had forgotten about my injury and given it a brisk scrubbing with the towel. Hence the redness and inflammation. Ouchies. :( Bruising is starting to turn yellow. Molotov gets a nice clear shot for you.

Bruises changing color almost daily. It's so much harder to take these photos by myself.

It's weird how bruises sometimes become more noticeable as they age. I didn't know the bruising went down my buttcheek that far.

Note the gaps in the scab - I think that happened when I scoured it a couple of nights previous.

I'm starting to worry you guys are getting tired of seeing my rear end, so...

I had Molotov take today's photo in the grocery store, just to mix things up a bit.

Suddenly, a lot of the bruising has disappeared. Although I'm fresh out of the shower in this photo, I remembered to dry gently this time. It's healing, and the itching is particularly annoying lately.

healing pretty well, still kinda itchy but not a lot of scabbing left - the booboo is healing more slowly now, so I'm not taking photos every day

Yep, that looks like a scar, alright.

More than a month later. That thing's not going anywhere any time soon.

I tried to get the same angle as in the first shot in the praxis for this one. Please ignore the goosebumps - Molotov has the AC on tonight.

Aye, L.
sorry

Was the wall rusty? Maybe that's not just a scar, but a wall-rust tattoo. Is that even possible?

I don't think so, but that would suit me very well.
