Artistic License by JTony Loves Brains

January 3rd, 2008 9:21 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Decorate your driver's license in an interesting and permanent or semi-permanent way. Ideal modification would be to draw a mustache on your photo, and then grow that mustache.

On the third day of Interregnum the task I chose to do, made me deface my driver's license card...

Sometimes the paint does what it wants.
I started with altering my image, using black and white paints to increase the contrast on my face. I didn't really feel much like facial hair, but somehow an ID with a blindfold seemed... interesting. It ended up looking spooky, reminding me of the stuff from the Cthulhu Mythos that my son and I have been playing with of late (we are new players of Arkham Horror, as an example), so I plugged in an Elder Sign over the California Seal and added "Arkham Asylum ID" over the top (Arkham Asylum also appears in the Batman Mythos).

So, now I guess I'm a blind orderly at Arkham Asylum... whether in Arkham, Massachusetts or Gotham City, who knows. I'll keep my Elder Sign, just in case.

Oh, and just for full disclosure, I recently got a new drivers' license, and must admit to using my old one for this task

man, if you'd been born a month later, you'd have the same birthday as that more famous guy with your name

Yeah, it is strange about the other JS. My last name is gotten by marriage, although many of my ancestors actually knew the more famous JS (one was handed a sword by JS as he was carted away to jail for the last time). Ah, I've got too many connections, and the too-close-birthday is another to add to the list! Perhaps the elder sign is more aptly named than I thought.

I don't suppose you know Pete?

Your picture does look quite spooky. Hooray for Batman!

As a current resident of Arkham (aka Oakham, MA) I feel that I have to send my vote your way.
