Photo Competition Number 1 by Lincøln, Audey Lee
January 26th, 2008 5:53 AM / Location: 34.233953,-118.3673They mostly followed the rules in that they each took one picture of Text, Portrait, Black & White, Place of Business and the corner of Sunland & La Tuna Canyon (our approximation of Stockton & Post that happened to be close to Lincoln's house) and five Wild Cards. And to throw a little wrench into the works Lincoln took all of his pictures within 150 feet of the corner of Sunland & La Tuna Canyon and he also took all of his photos within a tight fifteen minute time frame. Lincoln didn't tell Audey Lee that he was doing this, but because it was a rainy night, she almost fit into these constraints as well. Except that she took some photos of the In n Out they stopped at on their way to tasking and they were too good to pass up. So when they arrived at their chosen destination, Lincoln gave Audie a bit of a head start and then off to photographing they went. This is what they came up with.
Lincoln's photos will show up first and Audey Lee's will show up second. And the way the layout will work is you'll see both text photos at the top, First Lincoln's and then Audey Lee's. Then Lincoln's Portrait, then Audey Lee's and so on and so forth.
So here we go:

Audey Lee's text
I guess the A didn't deserve a period. This is one of those tags that could almost be mistaken for surveyor's spraypainting.
Audey Lee's Portrait
"he didn't look old, not for his years...not unless you got a glance at his eyes..."
Audey Lee's Black & White
I look at things I don't normally pay attention to when there's a camera in my hands.
Audey Lee's Intersection
We drove down Tujunga canyon, then La Tuna canyon. It reminded me of college when I used to go out with my lover at the time. We would drive for ages, drive for the hell of it. Drive out to factories and refineries after dark and watch the little flames shoot into the sky. We drove a lot less after the war started.
Audey Lee's Shoes...oh my god! shoes. These shoes rule.
Me in a tree. I haven't climbed a tree in a long time. Considering my knee pain, this was a fantastic achievement.
Audey Lee's Tree
A beautiful metal sculpture tree in front of Fire Station 771. Sigh, the symbolism. If only all trees were bronze. No forest fires.
Audey Lee's Order Runner
Not realizing this was a drive-thru only, we passed the little box you speak into to give the order. An employee came out and started running to all the cars, taking orders. I couldn't help but feel responsible. Like I jammed the system a little bit. Nice.

Yay, Burn Unit wins!
Congratulations, Senator Unit.
Audey, a belated welcome to the game. I'm thrilled to have another player in the Southland. Hope you'll stick around.
I'm a sucker for photos taken from the side-view mirror of a car. This is a pretty fine example.
I really like this, I would say the Mexican guy in the portrait is my favourite photograph. I also love the roof junk so I will have to say that Lincoln has it for me.
agreed - lincoln's gent in the truck is my fave. though I do feel intrigued by Audey's last wild card. Well played!

i love how the text of the task just says "share results". It may be called a competition, but you don't actually have to pick a winner.
we win.
