On Christmas day I don't know what came over me, but I just got wrapped up and had to complete this task. After a fantastic Newtonmas festivity, some friends of mine and I decide to go see a movie (it was either a movie or a game night, and we decided to do game night the next night). When the film was over and I was watching the credits (as I do), my friends all left. The movie theater we went to was in a real trendy hip part of Santa Monica where they just closed a street for three blocks and it's only used for foot traffic like a mall (we went there because one of my friends is in a wheelchair and doesn't like to go to unfamiliar places all too often, so we went to his neighborhood). Well, after the film all of my friends went to a bar down the street where they have a little shuffleboard court. I was uninterested in going into a bar or playing shuffleboard, so I went for a walk instead.
I thought about this task. I wasn't planning on doing any tasking this night so didn't have a plan, and the one task I have ready to do I need a documentarian for, so I just wandered, letting myself be pulled along from one interesting thing to the next. I took lots of photos to document how I drifted from one place to the next. And it was an excellent opportunity to test out the long exposures on my new camera.
I walked all over Santa Monica for this.
Below are the pictures that I took on my three hour tour of Santa Monica at night on Newtonmas. At the beginning you'll see a map of where I wandered to and you'll see it was pretty aimless. If you want to see what I was thinking about for each picture go read my Night Photography completion. Read the captions over there to get a different story.

I have nothing to say, except that I'd rather be in Santa Monica today. Because, damn, it's hard to dérive when it's -4° F outside.
