Sign Recontextualisation by Lincøln

So I'm driving to put Christmas lights on somebody's house, and it's a place I've never been before, and it's far away and I'm not happy about it, and it's late. But then I turn a corner and I see it. I see the sign and I have to have it.

I know it's hard to see there, stupid Google street view camera resolution. But it's the only picture I have, because it was too late to see to use a camera and I didn't want to use a flash.
I pulled my truck up next to the pole, and standing on the rack and roof of the truck, I used a pry bar to loosen the binds that held it fast, and then slipped it up and off and put it in my backseat. Because I knew I had to do it. I knew where it had to go, and I was compelled. Getting it off of the pole was surprisingly easy.
I had that sign in my room staring at me every day waiting for the chance to put it where it belonged (which at the time was New York).
Now is the time where I tell you about a weird thing that happens (to me) on SFØ. I have friends, and when I say friends I mean real friends. Friends all over the world. Friends that I have never met, but know very very well. Some I know better than others, but all of them I feel very close to. SFØ is the reason. I have friends in Great Yarmouth. Fucking Great Yarmouth! I place I had never heard of until this crazy game came into my life. I have friends all over this country and others. I have friends in San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, Austin, Portland, Boston, North Carolina, Wasilla... all over. And it's a strange thing. And there are some players that I have really fell in love with without ever having met (like Ben Forbes), well I guess I should say I have fallen in løve. Because it's not real love, but it's there all the same. One of these players that I have fallen in løve with is Myrna Minx. I løve everything about her. She is fantastic and the more I got to know her the more I fell in løve. So when I saw the sign denoting the beginning of Myrna Street, I knew it belonged with her. So I had to find a way to get to New York. Which shouldn't be too difficult.
But then she moved. She moved back to St. Louis. Which was closer. I could get there faster with less hassle. And I've always wanted to see that arch.
But then she moved again. She moved to San Francisco. San Francisco? The same San Francisco that's just a few hours away from me? Holy crapballs, this recontextualisation might happen sooner than later. I looked at my tour schedule and saw I had a show at the Jewish Cultural Center in San Francisco in March. The same San Francisco that Myrna Minx lives in now.
I had a plan. I made an event, I changed my flight to give me more time in the city.
I packed my bag.

While I was in the city, I wanted to surprise her with this task, but I needed co-conspirators, and none of them came through with enough time before she found me. But that's OK, even though she double dog dared me, I let fate play out this hand. I went to meet her in a place where she was expecting to see me, it was a fail, but a wonderful fail. How many people do you meet for the first time with a hug? Not many, that's how many.
So we had a wonderful weekend, I danced in her house and we shared adventures, all the while I had a sign hidden in a bag in Lowteck's Lair waiting for the right opportunity.

So on my last day in the city, on my way to the airport I made a quick stop at Myrna's place and one of her wonderful room-mates let me in while she was at work and I went to work recontextualizing the sign. Ten minutes later, it was hung and I was on my way to Bart and the airport and Los Angeles. But I left behind a gift for somebody I truly adore.

And now, for something completely different:
This is how I met Myrna Minx.

I like tasking that celebrates Myrna! She deserves it!
you've got to love the particular satisfaction that comes with submitting a task you've been holding onto for sooooo sooo sooo very long and then the heavens align and a new praxis is born!
