View the Villain's completion of this task!
To begin:

Sutro Tower,
Our Logo And Mascot,
has come to symbolize all of the joy-seeking inspiration, all of the ceasing taking life for granted that SFØ has welled in me.
It was a natural choice as subject of my spreading of SFØ.
The Appetizer:
As a little warm-up, and as a tip of the hat to the original dispute with the Villain over advertising, I began spreading SFØ by taking a trip to Dolores Park to paint Sutro Tower onto people’s bodies.

My photographer, YellowBear and I approached strangers asking if they’d like free face/body painting.

Each painting took 5-10 minutes, during which I kept conversation continuously focused on sfØ.

I explained what it was, and why it had me out doing the Good Deed of offering free body art.

I gushed about how inspiring and fun tasking is, and how it can force joy into a humdrum routine.

I asked about people’s interests and told them about tasks that might appeal to them.

The Main Course:
Partly inspired by the Low Score Task, I noticed that Sutro is sexy no matter which way you turn her.

Her beauty stands alone, but is lent even greater magic by the scenes through which we see her. Sutro from my roof. Sutro from the Golden Gate Bridge. Sutro from Nob Hill.

During the hubbub of daily living, catching a glimpse of her as I am bustling about the city always reminds me to stop, take a breath to see the beauty in things, if only for a minute.
I wanted to bring this minute of walking meditation to the busy masses. I wanted these masses to associate this feeling of stopping to really look at your surroundings with sfØ.
Thus began
Bex the Herø’s Sutro Stenciling Project
San Francisco is more welcoming to street stencil art than any city I’ve ever been to, especially in my neighborhood, the Mission. It is one of the reasons I love The City so. And the street stencil form fit my function perfectly.
Planning
First I chose locations that I know are well trafficked by widely disparate groups of people:
Tourists

Street Kids

Yuppies.

Gangstas.

Hipsters.

Bar Rats.

The Insane.

Reconnaissance
I went around the city taking pictures of Sutro through the landscapes of these people’s daily routine.

Making Stencils
I printed several of these pictures very large, pasted them on cardboard,

and spent days making painstaking dye-cuts of them to place in the exact location where the picture was taken.

Layin' 'em Down

Then it was time to hit the streets with them. I put on my blackest ninja suit , Tasking Pearls, and some latex gloves,

and pleaded with YellowBear to drive the getaway vehicle while I engaged in illegal artification of extremely public and often seedy spots at 3am on a Saturday night.
After this experience, I can confidently say
I am Hard Core.

I haven’t had that much adrenaline in my system since a particularly hot night with Lola.
Returning to the Scene of the Crime

Thier purpose is to tear the viewer out of their humdrum routine life for a minute and see their life as art. And inspire a resulting curiosity about this sfØ.org written there.

Damn Bex, you really went for it!! Now I need to do a tour and see every one! You should do Hero City Tours and wear your suit while you guide groups to all the different locations that portray our glorious Sutro Tower at her best.
wow.
(I didn't know it was a duel when I voted the first time, now I do. Sorry not to help one or the other win.)
You even have progeny that is doing things.
I particularly like the painted cigarette butt at 16 x Valencia.
If SF0 has decided not to limit players votes then there is NO WAY I am going to let you guys limit my votes. I love em both.
I fuking love that my secret comments have caught on!!!
Hey Bex it looks like you found your super gay underwear
arrghh!
there's a progeny list here. and task cards over there.
It's like watching Iron Chef. I think about when the judges try to decide between two equally outrageous menus. Then all they can talk about are the minute differences in the secret ingredient's flavor.
for those of you scoring at home, the secret ingredient is drive
Well, there's some awfully good tasking here, I tell you what.
Bex, I have such a boner for your super suit...
Shhhh! Don't reveal my secret identity! It's Bex!!!
So awesome. So thorough. So brilliant. And beautiful and inspiring.
o my god hot damn love WOW
jesus h. christ *%&@#!$&*@!
so hard not to vote so hard so hard so hard, wait for it, must read other posts first be fair to evil villain NO VOTE NOW no i cannot stop looking at it
[ excuse this player while undergoing seizure / tantric orgasm / total body shutdown / unending pleasure as a result of spray related eye candy.... ]
Site specific pavement stencils are awesome. A brilliant idea, and a flawless execution. I'm stunned. (Not that I expected anything less from Bex, but still . . . WOW!)
Painting SF0 artwork on strangers is also very cool.
And, it goes without saying, the costume is fantastic - but protocol requires I try to ignore it when evaluating this task.
Congratulations Herø, this is some impressive tasking.
Unfortunately you have only made it easier for me to identify the hidden location of your precious Sutro Tower.
Be warned. A Villainous appearance in San Francisco is imminent.
Yeah, the fact that you made the stencils work so you can stand at them and see the same view behind is what really sold me. Totally cool.
And I wish I'd gotten a Painting as well. I know, why don't a bunch of us go down and get real sutro tattoos at the same time, like army buddies used to!
Oh, and I also voted for you because your thighs look so appealing in the hero outfit... so much better than The Villains, even though he rides a bicycle.
you haven't seen my thighs in the hero outfit yet.
This is amazing.
I think this is cooler than the Villain's completion, but I think the Villain's was probably more effective at spreading SF0 - and that's the criterion I'm applying. So, sorry Bex, but my vote's going the other way.
Once the duel is decided I'll try and remember to come back and give you the vote you deserve!
In the spirit of the duel, I feel like I must pick only one of the two to vote for.
But they are both so fantastic. I suggest everyone as impressed as I am go here to give another vote for both.
Respect for making your criteria. That Villain is quite effective.
But I would like to note for others that the task doesn't specify whether your spreading of SFØ should be done more for effectiveness or awesomeness.
You get to decide.
We both advertise SFØ.
And we both do it according to our Aesthematic trajectory of desire.
I would also like to note the longevity factor with stencil advertising. One big burst at the beginning, or a continuous steady stream? You decide.
It is funny; you both took on some of the attributes of the other to complete this task. You wear a mask; he drives around helping others. Is it true that in order to defeat your foe, you must become him?
I am persuaded by the longevity note. however I mentioned over in the villain's comments that it seems like there's more direct-spreading-contact via the product aspect of that proof, which I think grants it the edge in your agreed-upon aesthematic terms.
I guess the awesomeness of this completion is enhanced even more when you live in SF. I want to live in SF and keep an eye of the Sutro Tower. I want to be part of the masses doing the minute of walking meditation helped by your marvelous stencils. Yeah, a guided tour through them lead by you on the new hero outfit would be unstoppable as an advertisement campaign...
Well, despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to talk myself out of a vote for the Villain. With all due respect to the longevity argument, I'm still convinced his completion is somewhat more likely to bring new people to the game.
On the other hand, seeing Bex's completion in the praxis is what's going to keep them here once they arrive. It's absolutely top notch tasking, perfect in every respect. (Well, every respect save the eccentric and debatable standards by which I judge duels.) Can't wait to come back and vote for this.
reprensentaion of reality in reality, brilliant.
aaahhhh amazing awesomeness!!! wow, I'm duelly impressed. (yes, that was a lame pun, brought on by the fact that I can't spell well, so since I can't properly spell dulely, I'll make it into a pun.) regardless of pathetic puns, bex, you rock!!
tee hee hee ....
**scampers off to play with tower and other theives...**
You see then, VILE Agent, how I have dispensed greater villains than you before.
Be afraid; I don't respond well when my tower is stolen. You could be next!
I wanna vote, like, 8 times.
