This didn't involve as much adrenaline or stealth as I'm used it but a long time ago I used to teach disaster preparedness to grade schoolers, I should have already had one of these. Sadly, I never made one. One of our volcanoes is likely to go off, so there will be earthquakes and maybe a tidal wave and ashes in the air if it does. thanks to my kit I will survive to task another day!
First aid and sanitation

These things followed: powder, a bandanna and a shoelace, a toothbrush, some floss, ibuprofen, sugary candy(for moral support), towels, washcloths, soap, cotton balls and Q-tips, safety pins, a sling, wet wipes, vitamins, cough drops, anti psychotic drugs, a mirror, a small scissors, chap stick, anti acids, a comb, Alka seltzer, and an old first aid book.
Water

Ew. look how dirty that was! I cleaned and refilled a big old water jug so I would have drinking water should a disaster happen.
the kit

First aid kit, umbrella, lantern, poncho, goggles and mask, sharpies, pen and notebook (need to be able to writ about it when i'm the only one left alive), needle and thread, plastic bags (you never know), food, utensils pot, ladle, whistle, matches, can opener, screwdriver, plate/Frisbee, water, extra glasses, and last but not least Duct tape (probably the most important!).
Also

a baseball bat and a shotgun in case the eruption triggers the zombie apocalypse. If not I'll just use them as protection against thugs and moose.

Hmm.
I voted in spite of the baseball bat and shotgun.
I think it's funny and would be appropriate for a zombie apocalypse bug out bag, but for a volcano bug out bag, I think they'll just get in the way.
I start most plans with the munitions, then build out from there. Tactical concerns, questions of mobility versus entrenchedness. Then again, you *were* planning for volcanic activity, not the teeming hordes of undead amassing over yonder hill. Although if there were a time you most need to be prepared for zombies, I'd bet on seismic activity breaching a secret quarantine. Or, you know, the literal apocalypse.
I'm going 2-points for now, not because I doubt your kit, but because of concerns for your preparedness. You must do test-runs to familiarize yourself with the conditions. What procedures accompany the bag? To where do you evacuate?
What is more likely (in Alaska) to start a zombie apocalypse than a volcanic eruption? All you'd need to do is put something in the ash that makes people zombies and you'd instantly coat the most populous region (Which is to say, the city of Anchorage) in zombie-making-death-ash.
but to be fair, if we're talking strictly volcanic activity, baseball bat and shotgun aren't necessary.
With these I can defend against thugs as well. If there was a disaster that I would need to use this to survive with you can bet other less moral people would be trying to survive as well.
You know, when my family first moved to Kodiak, I was OK with it. I mean, we, as a family, have survived dust bowls, sandstorms, blizzards, floods (both flash and slow), avalanche, hurricanes, and tornadoes (whilst living in a trailer in a trailer park, no less). I figured nothing could happen to them on the island (No one gets off....the Island) that we hadn't already gone through and survived.
Even when I found out that the entire island had been burned to bare rock in 1903 by a volcano, I was comforted by the fact that my parents house was one of the only two structures on the island that survived (the other being the Russian Orthodox Church). No worries, right?
Hoo boy was I wrong!
Winter of 2005. I was in the middle of mid-terms. Like actually taking my mid-term, when I got several calls from my Mom. I excused myself from the test and went outside to find out what was going on. When I finally get a hold of her I get told that my family was getting evacuated to Anchorage because a volcano had erupted and the ash cloud was projected to land on the island.
?!!!??!!!!
The last, and I mean LAST thing that I ever thought my family would have to survive was a volcano!
So I commend you on your volcano preparedness, and when it comes to the zombies, worry not. I have that one taken care of with my army of anti-zombies. :)
I don't know. Given the usual exponential rate of zombie population growth, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the zombie-plus-antizombie annihilative explosion.
Vote for baseball bat and shotgun! =D
