Fortune Not Cookie by saille is planting praxis

January 24th, 2009 12:48 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Install fortunes of your devising in permanent or non-permanent media in openable structures, such that passersby will come across them.

For quite a long time I found myself at a complete mental block on this task, unable to compose positive fortunes I could honestly believe in. It is surely no coincidence that after January 20 I began to conceive of a few honestly happy or magical words to leave behind for random passers by. With one small first message composed, the mental floodgates opened. Not contented with simple scraps of paper, I devised my fortunes in a somewhat more whimsical manner and hope that people decide even one is worth keeping.

As this one was magnetic, it stayed attached to the handle after several openings and closings.

Perhaps a less useful random place than the rest, but in accordance with leaving one fortune at each errand of my day.

I like the touch of making them mini-works of art, rather than slips of paper.
