Observation by saille is planting praxis

November 7th, 2008 12:54 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Get out in the world, find somewhere that you can write. Then, write about everything around you for thirty minutes.

Dammit, Jim, I'm a photographer, not a poet.

4:40-5:10pm October 31, 2008.
Small park with a picnic table along Main Street. Looking for a quiet moment to reflect on the holiday, my observation accidentally coincided with neighborhood trick-or-treating.

As for the form, I wanted to avoid another stream-of-consciousness prose narrative, and instead chose a poetic form suited for very quick writing.

I forgot I was awful at it. Still, it is my observation, and I will transcribe the least terrible:

Sunset, All Hallow's
dress up our fears and mock them.
death, as a toddler.

ignoring our games
chill breeze rolls off the river
an unquiet ghost.
