Missive From Strangers From Friends by Ben Yamiin
March 20th, 2009 11:21 AM / Location: 5.5337645,-0.236892A missive from GaØ and Øuagadøugøu and ⴶⴹⵣØ

I had an 18 year old local girl write a postcard in Ga to a friend in ØAK.

On the front is a picture of the Asantehene, the current king of the Asante people.

If you'd like her English translation of what she wrote, select the following text:
Dear J*****,
I am very happy to write you this letter. How are you? I want to tell you about myself. I like the way you are and the work you do is the designing of a map you do. I want you to do some for me. I will see you next time to talk a little about something.
F******* M****
The postcard was then sent, for 1₵
EDIT
I sent out another post card from Øuagadøugøu.

It was written by this man:

To see who it was sent to, just remember that "yobbo" is Moré for "one"
EDIT
I send another one out from ⴶⴹⵣØ (AgadezØ)
It's written in Tamajeq, the language of the Tuareg, in their traditional script (which they've been using for over 3000 years. This makes it the oldest script still in use. The average literate Tuareg that find carved monuments from that era can still read them).

It was sent to a player that's never done a task before, but is a friend of mine.

GAØ is our first West African Ø, in Accra, Ghana. GA stands for Greater Accra, also Ghana, also Gã, which is the name of the language of the people originally from the area.

sally forth, young zero warrior! doubtless the west african lands will flower and bloom after your having passed, full of taskish beauty and wonder. your drive is commendable, admirable, enviable! we await your next installment...
check out my Silent Donation for a not-so-cleverly-disguised reference to your player name.
hey everybody, I added another postcard recipient.
This one was sent from Øuagadøugøu.
how did I miss this?! awesome.
The Tamajeq script is very cool looking.
I've heard of it referred to as an ancient geometric script used for writing love letters. It's getting in wider use now, though, now that Morocco has made it official.
i give you partial vote only b/c i have two other favorites.
EDIT March 21st, 2009: i see you have now voted for my favorites. more points for you.
