Thanks kindly, though I've always thought of a dérive as unskilled work. Required: only a will to move without going anywhere literal.
No reason why you shouldn't try this in Lincoln, or even wherever you are now.

No, no, I'm ok just with other people having monkeys. And not even always then.
But I did once almost rent a donkey to carry my stuff over the alps, so that counts for something right?

Not wanting to detract from the stories above (nor to add my similar, if likely more awkwardly worded, version), I'd merely like to mention that it is extremely improbable that without this game I'd have kept my current facial furniture for more than a week or so, nevermind the 2 years and counting it's stared back from the mirror at me and weekly, or more, insisted with lip scratching and asymetry that I trim or otherwise tame it.

Anything I write down is one more thing I'll be sure to remember.

Yup. I'm still trying to write down/process stuff from my walk of four and a half years ago, but I know there's already so much I've forgotten.
Great to see your journal--while I was en route to Rome a friend was doing the route you followed, but we didn't swap info/stories much, just vague encouragement, light anecdote.
