Night Photography by visivo

INSTRUCTIONS: Explore your neighborhood in deepest, darkest night.

Share photographs and other impressions of your exploration.

I am never inspired to photograph night scenes when I am prepared.
No tripod, flash (for fill etc. AntiFlash League of Imerquee) or warm clothing for these icy nights
(I can say this, at least temporarily, because it is technically icy tonight).
I want to shoot from the hip. I want to be moved to photograph, not
prepare myself to photograph by hauling gear
to be ready for the "unexpected". (how forced)

I live in Oakland. On this night, I took bart to lake merritt from a foe's house
in the city, decided to walk chinatown in the dark.
Thought about how awfully underrated this town is. Seems irreverent to
pimp the east bay in an sf forum, but I'll speak with conviction: oakland
is a wonderful space. I've seen awful things happen within this community,
but I've also taken time to experience it in my own fashion, and I've found
a lot of goodness. It's my personal cream-puff, with a weird yet yumm fillin.

I used cars as stabilizers. I used slow shutter speeds, and held my breath. I used low ISOs and prayed.
Either way, I shot things in the usual way
see, snap
think snap
snap, meander, think, snap, tiptoe
squish nose squish mouth, squint eyes
snap
run home excitedly

see result

blah blah blah
here's some of the result.
like everything, it's all in fun, perhaps a bit seredipitious
