Night Photography by Lank

INSTRUCTIONS: Explore your neighborhood in deepest, darkest night.

Share photographs and other impressions of your exploration.

UPDATE 5/1/08:

I've been inspired recently by some great completions of this task that I've seen from newer players. And in the spirit of the Living Garden of Tasks, I've re-completed mine.

Since my neighborhood changed a while back, I had new ground to cover in the cover of night. I didn't go out trekking around to find street art this time. I just explored my neighborhood. Specifically, I took photos of the text in my neighborhood. I wanted to see what it had to say.

Some examples (more below):

UPDATE 6/22/7:

I made a map of my route, in case anyone wants to check these out: map

You must know that I agree with ya, S. I kinda think that our duel got swept under a rug a bit since the completion was posted so early (tactical error in judgement on my part). And true that folks should be reminded of our awesome DANCE IN FLAMES!

Sharing is caring!

of course i did the same thing with futility... and others did follow suit. but still not very fair

I suppose you could say that this is all part of the learning process for the new Un-Submit button. I thought it was genius when you used it for Futility - that's why I followed suit!

If there are too many abuses of The Button, I'm sure the PTBs will do something about it.

At one point I wondered whether an SFØ message board would be a good idea, but quickly realized the horror that might ensue with tons of "Hey! Look at my completion! HEY!" messages.

Koyah gets a wrist slap for re-submitting! (Even though I'm glad he did!)

hehe there were way too many abuses on my part and I think I am now the only player that can't resubmit. i was kinda asking for it though

Intriguing travels and beautiful images, all captured quite well. Thank you for this guided tour!

Man, I wish we had street art of that quality in more places around DC.

I love the caution sign holding back all those post-it notes.

That's some sort of art installation, right? Looks too regular to be a real pin-board.

UPDATES! RE-COMPLETION!

Senator Unit noticed my new stuff while this page was still under construction.

So yeah, I re-did this task in my new neighborhood. But unfortunately, I somehow managed to delete most of the text from my original completion, when I sought out LA street art in the wee hours. Damn. At least the photos are still there.

Senator: the caution tape and post-it notes are on the entrance of Zazie, my favorite local restaurant, which is currently being remodeled. They left post-its and pencils so that patrons unaware of their closure could leave notes in case of a thwarted rendezvous. The post-its were mostly used by us locals to express our love. I wrote one that said, "WHERE DO I EAT?"
