Sir Francis Bacon
Bex's Portrait
Future Senator Lincoln
And in this construction documentation I'll be looking at the Future Hero! because it's big and easy to see the steps. This is for you Charlie Fish.
Saran on foot
Because I'm Lincoln, we'll start with the foot. I wrap it up in Saran wrap. It's important that no skin is exposed.
Leg Saran Wrapped
Then work all the way up the leg with the Saran Wrap. Again, make sure no skin is exposed. It's OK to double wrap.
Leg taped
Tape up the entire leg many times around in every part. And make sure it's in the position you want to be in.
Cutting myself out
Once the item is cast in tape, simply cut it out. I recommend scissors and not a razor blade or knife.
The husk
The leg once it was cut off from my body. Now simply tape up the seam, and you've got a hollow leg.
Tapehead
Wrapping the head in tape. Make sure you're thorough. Do it over and over. It's got to be solid.
Leave the nose exposed to allow for breathing.
It was about impossible to see out once thoroughly wrapped.
Start cutting myself out
Once the head has been wrapped enough, it's time to cut the tape to extricate the head.
Cutting blind from behind isn't easy
Be careful here, especially if you have hair. If you have hair, you might want to cut up the side of the head.
Right arm
Begin wrapping the arms the same way we did the leg. Here you'll see I've bend the arm in the position I want it in when the statue is complete.
My arm breaks free!
Sometimes it's tough to get out of the mold. But it's pliable, so don't worry about bending it, it'll go back into shape when you get it off and can manipulate it from the outside and inside at the same time.
Taping the neck was very confining.
I would not suggest doing this for anybody who is even the least bit claustrophobic.
Tape the chest
You have to make sure to tape every part of you with a little bit of overlap so the pieces fit together.
Do the shoulder
Doing the shoulders alone was very very difficult. I had to bend and sway a lot. Like I was doing some strange mating ritual for some non-existent female to admire.
Gotta wrap the junk as well
This was tough to get good coverage everywhere. It was real tough getting the butt cheeks to be separate. Especially because I was working on myself. I think with two people this would be much much easier all the way around.
Attach the legs to the hips
There's half of the Senator right there. Just tape the pieces together where they match up. Be thorough. These new joints have to be strong.
Surrogate Bex
I used a Buffy the Vampire Slayer toy as my Bex stand in when I made her portrait. Here I am getting her in position.
Second skin
The Buffy/Bex getting her tape skin removed. It was basically the same principle as for the full sized statue except I used a lot less tape.

The implication here is that you can use scissors both left and right handed. That's extra nifty.
And, since you make the segments separately, if you wanted, you could make an eight-legged octopus version. Or a six armed Hindu deity version. The possibilities are endless!
That's true. There's no limit to the kinds of crazy alien people one could make.

Compare and contrast!!!
Player photo!? (So many to choose, damn!)
And doing the whole thing solo, danger of asphixiation and slashing included. Where are the rest of the votes?
