Great Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth is a generally miserable place, surprisingly, so we
thought we'd better get the highfives out and cheer people up!
And of course, we can never resist a GYØ Team Duel...

GYØ: Spreading The Happiness: Askew, Jason, Vicki, Kieran
LAØ: The High Five City Welcome Wagon:

How better to celebrate President's Day than by bringing High Five City to The Santa Monica Pier?
We had trouble uploading the giant video files, so stills of some highlights can be found below.

Excluding 324 from birds (pigeons)
Sub-total of 114 Hi-Fives

DMØ: Kitties in the Attic: Stevadore and Mattachewie, Cthuhlu Kitty, Moo Kitty MaMa
The first weekend this challenge was scheduled to take place just happened to start off, for me, with a 3 mile run in downtown Des Moines in 8 degree weather. This being the first Des Moines race of the year, it was anticipated that there would be a large number of participants. My sister and her two young sons wanted to meet me at the end of the race, and thus the idea was born! I asked them if they would like to be part of my Hi Five team and offer high fives to the runners as the crossed the finish line. Stephen and Matthew were quite enthusiastic and Kim said why the heck not. So, as I ran the race, I hi-fived people here and there making sure to get the police officers who had been assigned to traffic duty while the rest of the team hi-fived the finishing runners. When I got there, I was quite surprised by the number of crazy people ready to run in such cold weather. Also, this run, known as the Red Flannel run, highly encourages creativity in running wear. Most of us were in flannel pajamas, but some also came in such costumes as spiderman, Braveheart, Uncle Sam, and Darth Vader. All in all, at the end of the race, it was announced that there had been just over 1300 runners. Here is the hi-five breakdown:
Stevadore: 721 hi-fives all from complete strangers
Mattachewie: 583 hi-fives all from complete strangers
Moo Kitty MaMa: 53 hi-fives all from complete strangers
Cthuhlu Kitty: 44 hi-fives from complete strangers, 9 hi-fives from authority figures.
The local news team filmed Stevadore and Mattachewie hi-fiving runners at the finish line, and aired it that night on the ten o' clock news. Unfortunately, they did not post it on their web-site, so all i have is a terrible copy of me filming the TV, which I have not posted yet due to copyright issues. Also, my camera decided to quit on my sister, so we only have a few pics of the day :(
Note: MNØ, if you have your proof can you send it to us?

I laughed after all the initial trepidation, when a tie-wearing chap responded with "Oh why not." Adam seemed to calm people down fastest about it though -- very high-energy and no-nonsense. Or maybe all-nonsense. I don't know.
Lincoln though, man, people don't know what to do with you. Kids seem to know whats up, but the adults, they have their reservations. Thankfully CM has a t-shirt to explain everything.
They're not the explosive high fives you'd expect borne of joy. They're more like ..palm touches.
I think you're talking about GYØ, as ours were for the most part brilliant and full of awesome.
(I think this might have to do with nobody in Great Yarmouth knowing what a high five is exactly)
And obviously you're not talking about Cthuhlu Kitty's, because she only has three high fives documented, and while they are lackluster, those people just finished running a race.
Brits don't know how to do high fives very well. At least I don't, I always miss the mark and end up hitting myself and looking stupid!
Why aren´t votes pouring? Praxis of the week, of course, IMHO.
I loved the way the invitation discourse evolved for the CES team, and how STH got away with "High five?" asked just with the right tone of voice.
Escalator high-fives and policewomen´s high-fives and the lady-who-had- never-heard-about-a-high-five´s one.
Seriously favorited.
High five city video is all of those new adjectives you guys come up with.
very nice...
just wish the high fives were more epic...
ooo, i just got some inspiration....
votes don't usually pour in on a friday night, susy.
they'll come.
Lots of fun work went into that. I hope when i get around to doing this task I don't get beat up or stabbed when I do. People are not very nice here. Good work though, very impressive.
Stabbed? Yikes, that's the opposite of a high five.
Don't get stabbed.
And if you really feel you have to, highfive everyone in the hospital.
I hope i don't but I would definatly make sure i did that if i did end up in hospital. As long as I pick my targets selectively i should evade any major harm. I can see the dangerous people quite easily here though and this will help.
Gonzales, in that picture you look like ben franklin.
Thanks. He's probably my favorite founding father.
I love to collaborate on tasks. It's one of the great things about this game. However, right now (and once or twice in the past) I wish I hadn't collaborated, so that I could vote for the other members' awesome. I think it's the long distance nature of the task. I think if I was standing in GYØ with those guys, I'd not feel as compelled to vote.
I did a task with Anna One and Lank, and we all went and did the same task together, but we submitted separate praxis, and I loved it. I loved showing my love with a vote.
So in lieu of a vote, this comment will have to do for my fellow high fivers.
Awesome work guys.
Thanks, and I think you can consider that we would do vice versa for High Five City.
Ive just watched the other team's video and I had no idea how well Spreading The Happiness did. Well done team.
Just to prove my point of why Im so bad I knew Willow, Emma C, Jess, Clinton Cards Lady, Iceland Lady, Wilkinsons Lady, Book Stall Lady, Argos Man, Argos Woman ad nauseum
why oh why did my camera have to flake out when it did?!
My praxis was so much cooler than my documentation shows :(
But, i must say hats off to my fellow hi-fivers for such awesome work and documentation!!!!
Yeah, man. It was great collaborating with some great folks on such a great task. Thank you all!
Kitties in the Attic, best team name.
I really likek CM's man tittiez!
Why am I drunk at work????
Cause I have a half hour left.
Penis!
You get off work at midnight? Wow, I'd probably have a drink too if I were getting off work at midnight.
votes for a high frive from a "saffron robed monk"
Yeah, I had to work for that too. There was the language barrier, and then he seemed unsure of slapping my hand. He was the only truly difficult one.
I just watched these videos again. All of you are fantastic. And GYØ's sound effects are perfect.
I dont want to speak for Ben but the sound effects were a homage to Family Fortunes I believe.
I couldn't think of anything more appropriate, really. Took me a while to find those effects.
What do you Google to find "ner-nerrrgh"?
I think there should be extra points for high fives with animals. I really liked the pigeon high fives. vote for that!
I think it would depend on the animal. The pigeon-fives were super easy on account of the bird seed. I don't know if you've ever tried to high-five a cat though, those guys won't play along.
50pts for highfiving Yellowbear whilst a captive of Bex.
Well, would you look at that.
Salutations, spicebots. Please identify yourself, and state your purpose. This is restricted airspace.
Also, you misspelled "Turmeric".
Also, what's Cthuhlu Kitty been up to? This is probably the last I heard of her.
And now they're gone.
Man, this better be leading up to some awesome Praxis.
The effects of their votes are still around.
And this is annoying enough that if it leads to praxis I almost certainly will not vote for it.
"Excluding 13 from bubbles (probably faeries)"
The faeries will not be discounted! Their high fives demand to be heard!
This is an email I got from my friend, Corey:
"I love aggregator websites that put links together based on keywords... Going to Lincoln City, Oregon? This video of "Lincoln" in High Five "City" is sure to be informative!"
I think you folks know what video they've posted.
Guys, guys, we can stop now. SF0 just won the internets.
I just finally saw this collection of awesome.
It's funny how lackluster all the high fives are. People seem scared.
