Field Coverage, AKA Reality Tribute Band by GYØ Ben, teucer, Lincøln, Jellybean of Thark, Tøm, Optical Dave
August 29th, 2008 4:44 PM- split up your group into two equal teams.
- agree on how many field recordings each group will generate. (something from 2-5)
- reconvene and exchange field recordings.
- each team will produce a "cover" of the other's tracks.
- submit the set of all sounds here
Another task brought to you in part by the support of Skype™.

One day while a bunch of players were all talking about random stuff with other SFØ players on the Skype™ machine, it is discovered that Lincoln has been trying to get teams together to do Field Coverage for quite awhile, but with very few players in LAØ he was meeting with relatively little success. When he was last in San Francisco and he was in a large group of players and the goal was tasking, he tried to get the group to give this task a shot, but there was no structure to the time he was there, and the group of players failed to do any tasks really.
The conversation on Skype™ turned to recording sounds, ambient sounds and such like that, and Lincoln mentioned that he still had this task that was burning a hole in his to do page.
So a plan was quickly devised.
1. There would be two teams, one from the US, and one from the UK, each consisting of four players.
2. Each player would go out and find one minute's worth of ambient sound and record it.
3. The only rule for the initial recordings was that none of the sounds could be self-generated.
4. All of the recordings would be brought back to the task proof page and uploaded within 48 hours.
5. At the 48 hour mark, each team would then decide amongst themselves who would cover which sound.
6. Each of the team members would then take their chosen sound and go and find or create a suitable cover.
7. There are no limits to how the cover could be achieved except that no part of the original could be used.
8. The final covers would need to be uploaded here within another 48 hours.
It should also be noted that while we've split into teams, this is not a competition, so please, no wagering. Thank you.
The teams:
Team USA
Lincoln
C.M.
Doktor Harmon
Team UK
GYØ Ben
GYØ Tom
Flash Harry
Now it's time to reveal that many many participants in this challenge failed. The only two players that got both their feild recording and their cover done on time were LAØ. But since we created the rules, it's only fair that we should be allowed to break them as well, right? So just ignore rule number 8. Also, I think only Flash Harry and Ben were able to get their originals done on time, and was only able to get his because we forced him to do it while we were chatting on Skype™ and he only got it done by luring Tom into a sneaky trap.
So, because this is not a competition, it doesn't matter who turned in what on time or late, so now, for some pleasant sounding sounds:

I want to vote for Ben's a capella cover of my recording.
Can I do that?
Where do I do that? Ben? Ben?
