Tasks / Remove A Task: The Task

The mechanics of SF0 depend sensitively on the distribution of tasks and points. Too many easy tasks and high level players will neglect the hard tasks. Too few, and players will be unable to reach the difficult tasks.
Help restore balance to the game by nominating a task for retirement. Your nomination should review all completions of the task, including highlights and low points, and assess what we collectively can learn from this task.

is the system prepared for this? If a task were retired would players lose their points earned for that task?
I am not sure if this is alignment with Oliver X's intention for this task, but I'll throw it out there:
I suggest that the word "Remove" changes to "Archive." An archived task would remain on the system and viewable but you can no longer choose to complete it. Points awarded from the task would still remain. When the task is viewed on player's pages there could be a strikethrough on the name of the task.
This preserves players' histories and scores, allows for viewing-only of archived tasks (instead of outright removing them) and newer players can see what kinds of tasks were archived and why they were.
My $0.02.
Prank Monkey-
Thanks. I've thought about it more - and this is very, very similar to how geocaching.com and livejournal.com work with archived geocaches and deleted accounts respectfully. So the idea isn't exactly fresh. I'm also trying to convince the developers of dodgeball.com to do the same thing with closed venues.
Ian/Sam/Sean - what do you think?

I nominate The pirate Penguin Task for removal. I really like the idea of a search/mission/treasure hunt, but there isn't anything to go on. It could be anywhere in SF, or even outside SF for all I know. The only person who could possibly complete th...
I nominate the task Celebrity Doppleganger for removal. 222 people have completed this task (with 2 more currently doing it). I myself completed this task long ago. A quick review of some of the completions of this task, shows us that players h...

I nominate Tag With del.icio.us for archival or removal. This task, which currently is valued at zero points, does not, in my opinion, serve any positive purpose to SF0 and if anything, dilutes the overall quality of the tasks on the site. Alth...

I have a problem. It is with the tasks in the Humanitarian Crisis. There are many tasks which just dont fit. This problem of misfitting tasks may or may not extend beyond HC, but that is not my concern here. Just for consistency sake, here i...
I would like to recommend a category of tasks for deletion. These tasks are those which are simply one line of text that is the same as the title, for example: Hang-glide over the volcano. The description reads "Hang-glide over the volcano" ...
I nominate A Roof With A View for retirement. It appears to have been a specific event with no apparent plans for recurrence and, as such, should be an archived event, as suggested generally in the comments here. If archiving/retirement is undesi...

Crzy bones would vote for Tag With del.icio.us because well it is relatively pointless and does NOT help in helping to change the way we percieve the information we are given by the city on a daily basis. Crzy bones does not think this task helps us...
I hereby nominate "Anti-Consumer" for removal. Here are my arguments: 1. It is unfair to groups such as BARTpa due to the fact that many of the tasks require paying for public transportation on a regular basis. 2. It is unclear whether it encour...
There are a few tasks (Tag With del.icio.us, Giving Back, Wikipedia, Crash a New Year's Party Not On New Year's Eve, Relocate to San Francisco, etc; etc;) that I'm not sure contribute to the ultimate goals of the game or that have served their purpos...
I nominate a task that is not yet fully in play that is my own task seek and destroy. Because a large amount of people are offended by it because it is not positive.
YES.
