If anyone wants to see a truly unusual completion of this, I have issued a so-far-standing challenge to a forum I frequent (though I haven't been on there lately) that I'll open to you guys:

If anybody can come up with a more exotic fermented beverage than a liquor known to exist in southeast Asia, I will brew at least a gallon. The best I've gotten so far for suggestions is cricket stout, which is certainly unpleasant-sounding but for exoticness I don't think it tops the gold standard - alcohol flavored with bear bile.
