Mehaps you should join our skype party!
ask teucer to add you, seeing as i don't know how
Step one: skype chat at me or somebody else who is there. I am penvtoqnavry. Only rot13'ed, because I prefer if SF0 doesn't turn up if you google my real name, so.
Step two: I add you to the chat.
my brain has such a crush on your brain.
when?
Right now!
...usually I'm on in the evenings. And by evenings I mean kinda late at night over here in Eastern time.
so like tonight 8pm Pacific/ 11pm Eastern? Pix, you up for that?
i forgot, Lincoln is at Burning Man for the week. no reason we couldn't do it twice.
oh well, i'm sure it will come again!
I'll sit in the front yard to get good wifi
i seem to have the opposite schedule of SF0 chat. everytime i log on it's 4am teucer's time, and everybody is in the past.
WAIT WALDO WAS JUST ON
oh he's off now too.
just me and crickets.
Interested in doing this. Anyone up for a new skype party?
I'd certainly be down. We need to be eating the same thing, though.
Anyone else in?
I wouldn't mind sharing a meal with you fine folks.
I hope this collaboration|party gets big!
Where/how/when do we meet? How do we agree on ingredients/time zones/recipes?
DO WANT.
I feel like Feb 29 would be the perfect day for this (a virtual meal on a day that doesn't exist), but might be too short notice.
Also, question for the task creator and/or the general assembly -- does "never met in person" include the meal (meaning it actually CAN'T be in the same physical location), or could we do this task by meeting a player in person for the first time and then breaking bread with them? The virtual meal sounds awesome but meeting Internet strangers in person is fun too.
Leap Day seems like a perfect day for this.
I'm Pacific Time (as are many others), at what time will relet & Kattapa be able to share at the same time as us Pacific Timers?
I'm available the entire day. Our time difference is nine hours. What will we eat? Will we eat something simple (like bread) or shall we quickly agree on something weird?
Sorry, I cannot attend. Leap day does not exist.
I've got work and then a night class so I'm only available briefly before 8pm PST and then any time after 10pm PST, probably too late for most other folks. :(
How about the weekend? More people will be able to notice this and more people will have time.
Weekend is better, I think. We could do noon PST -- lunch in SF, late dinner in Berlin. Or slightly earlier. West Coast breakfast, East Coast lunch, Europe dinner...
All right, I'm going to propose that we do this on 3/3 at noon PST.
Should we share the same meal?
Or just prepare something?
Maybe eat on a theme?
I'm going to throw "omelettes" out there purely because I want to blow out some eggs and make them into seed bombs, which requires that I do more cooking with eggs.
If we wanted to really share the SAME meal exactly, some kind of mass-produced and widely-available meal would be ideal, like some particular variety of Campbell's soup, or some kind of big brand frozen food.
You probably won't find any of these in Europe, especially not readily available. The regulations for aggregated meals are quite different.
I would rather consider simple ingredients as widely available. Water, flour, vegetables, spices.
I like the idea of eggs.
Mostly because I really love eggs.
Maybe we all just make some kind of egg dish?
Eggs for all!
So, I've never done a video conference call with Skype, but it looks like you need the premium version to make that happen (at least one person does). Does anyone have it?
I would suggest pancakes (or vegan pancakes).
Google hangouts seem to be more stable for massive conferencing.
And upvote for vegan pancakes.
Google hangout seems like a great idea.
As do vegan pancakes!
(I'm going to also have eggs)
Who's starting the Google hangout thing? What's the connection info? I am lost and confused.
Are you people ok with google? If so, you can find me at http://relet.net/+ - I just realized that the third is today, but I'll be around at your noon. With pancakes.
It doesn't matter really who starts it, as long as everyone has at least one contact to invite them.
I am OK with Google. I think it is a fine idea.
Pancakes are an hour away.
I'm going to go start fixing food, but I started a hangout and invited relet to it. Hopefully by the time I'm done cooking there will be other people as well.
It's a shame, I just noticed that if my computer desk were about three feet over and if it weren't so much brighter outside than inside, you all would be able to see Sutro Tower on my webcam.
May the dough be with you!
That Sutro tower would do great in the documentation, indeed.
If anyone else is getting in on this, add relet so he can add you to the hangout, or post your info so we can invite you, or something.
Aw shoot. We missed Kattapa after all.
Should we repeat that experiment? Make that the SFØ Saturday Pancakes? It worked pretty well actually.
It doesn't have to be every Saturday, just when there is enough interest / cake. And we could try and see if we do some sf0 podcasting in the meantime.
When using Google hangouts be sure to add to your profile at least one of the people you want to chat with a bit in advance. Doing this just before lead to not being able to see the hangout. I did chat a bit with relet though and the pancakes were delicious :) See you another Pancake Saturday!
Wish I had seen this thread earlier. I want to get around with a bunch of implements of destruction and decide the most awesome way to literally "break bread"
I support the idea of Pancake Saturday becoming a recurring tradition.
what time central US time?
I would love to join you
Noon PST = 1pm Mountain = 2pm Central = 3pm Eastern = 9pm Central European ... sounds perfect to me.
Pancakes, anyone?
Since I haven't heard anything yet, I'll make other plans for this evening. I'll keep the subject batter at hand.
I can join you and anybody else at noon if you're up for it again.
I'm painting concepts today, but would be happy to take a pancake break.
Well I'm eating pancakes in front of the computer just in case...
Anyone in for a Pancake Saturday this weekend (noon PST)?
I'll talk to Ty about it tomorrow, but as far as I know, we are in
I am also in with some degree of certainty, contingent on how wild my Friday night is and how late I perforce must sleep. Will PM Kattapa and Pixie with my Google infos so we can find each other, assuming we're doing the Google Hangout thing again.
Just found out that daylight saving starts earlier in the USA and Canada than over here :( Still online though if anyone wants to eat together ;) Sorry... I really didn't know this.
Haha! I was running through the mountains with an 18kg backpack, sprained my knee, impaled myself on a tree stock and fell asleep as soon as I had some food in my stomach.
Sorry for missing out.
Made a Doodle for the next Pancake Saturday so we can pick a Saturday when many are available. :)

PS: You can change the time zone in the upper right corner.
Google hangout on the 12th and 19th at noon PST.
See http://www.doodle.com/thv5u3vx9e8mt2c4 for the guest list.

The first meal: Lincoln, relet & Sam Archer Following a discussion of the how and when, three sfzerians actually managed to meet up in cyberspace to share pancakes. It was a BYOP party, since the technology to share the actual pancakes is yet to...

Dear SFØ, there is a lot of writing here. If you think it is too long, the relevant bits for the next tasks will be big. (flavor music!) Pixie: I woke up one morning, about 3 months ago, and realized that I had become what I've always dreaded:...

Bex. A bunch of players from disparate locals wanting to task together. Simple video chat is awesome but has been done before. How to strive for the spirit of shplank in this tired old era? I got it! Let’s have a postmodern meal! Ingredients spread...
I want to do this with both of the people on the "interested in collaborating" list.
