This task is retired.BART Psychogeographical AssociationThe University of AesthematicsHumanitarian Crisis

Show your appreciation for national security forces, in their efforts to protect the territory from hazards both internal and external.

Make a gift package for members of such an organization, complete with a note describing the contents and your appreciation. Mail it to them, or just pack it suspiciously and leave it unattended in a place they will be sure to find it (i.e. the Subway or the Airport).

I do love the tone of this task, but the flat fact is if you leave a "suspicious" package, and it's sufficiently suspicious, they'll just explode it, rather than open it.

I urge players to use caution and use the mail when sending your appreciation. Also, they probably won't get "ironic" appreciation, so I'm guessing players who do this without seriousness will probably suffer

You know I would have to disagree with you on this you BU.
Sure this task could lead to utter catastrophe and there probably isn't anyone with balls enough to do it on SFØ. And with Homeland security being suspicious of everything including gorilla advertising… caution is advised(actually assumed). And I doubt anyone would be so bold as to do anything that would get an airport shut down for a day.

However, I believe consequences of such a task are mainly in the mind. All you have to do is bring some disposable bag(below) to the a public place and absent mindedly leave it there. and "suspicious" is clearly in the eye of the beholder.316451372_657bdc8770.jpg

I simply think these people are not appreciated enough and a nice peanut butter bannana and honey sandwich might make their day!

Oh I don't question the intention of offering a nice treat to the underappreciated workers of our largest government bureaucracy! It's just that they explode things if they're suspicious of them--and by that I mean explode them without checking the contents first. Seriously. Those "controlled explosions" are routinely done without knowing what's in the package. Partly to destroy the contents just in case the contents are deadly or the opening is booby trapped. So your gift might never be seen.

In which case, perhaps you could figure out a way for a package to pop up a bouquet of flowers after it's been 'sploded... I'd vote for someone who did THAT!

Was someone trying this in the Lower Haight about a week ago? Apparently someone's toolbox was detonated after someone wrote "A bomb" on it in sharpie.

wish me luck!

The other day, as I was getting lost in Honolulu, I ran across a great big government building with a huge sign saying "Department of Homeland Security." Instantly, I was reminded of this task and begin plotting its accomplishment. The who...
